I have now purchased 8 different Acurite pieces of equipment. They work great for a year then don't work at all. I seem to always be a month out of warentee.

We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced your AcuRite products. This certainly is not the experience we like to hear from our customers. We have reached out to you at the email address provided regarding this issue.
I wrote this question to support and the only answer I received back was to "reset to factory defaults". This is the answer to my question when I already said I had done that and the problem continues! "In January the unit was working great for the last 2 years. All of a sudden following considerable rains the Year to Date Rain Total dropped to less than 1". Entering March I took the unit down, cleaned it all out, waxed the two rain cups, reassembled, and the calibrated the rain fall so 1-cup of water equaled 1.06" of rain (checked it twice). Reset the data and re-mounted the unit. Within the next 2 weeks we had close to 4" of rain and unit worked well. Today, April 1st I wake up and the Year to Date display shows less than 1" of rain. This is the 2nd time it happened in a little over 3 months. Why is this happening?"

Typically for this issue we recommend a factory reset on the display then to see if the issue returns. I have provided the troubleshooting steps below. If this does not correct the issue, we would need to further investigate. Please contact the AcuRite Support Team at 262-729-4850. Thank you.
HD display factory reset: Enter display menu by pressing the gear button all the way on the left then arrow down to Factory Reset in the Menu settings. Change the next option to "YES" then the display will tell you to press the "Check mark" twice. Please let us know if this issue continues. Thank you.
Received as a gift last Christmas. What fun! Set the station up on the deck expecting to move it once the soil softened. I always like the temp display, and now I had rain and lightning too. The rain gauge and recording worked fine until September when I noticed the day's before rain did not add to the accumulated rain for the week or month. In fact, the rain for the day matched the rain for the week and month and those accumulators reset every day. I'm opening a ticket with Accurite to see what's what. The other problem is the lightning detector. At first, I had put it in the shed maybe 25' away. I was getting a fair amount of signal interference there, but tracked the lightning pretty well. I sought a better location - in a tree branch about 40' away - turned out to be not so good idea because it got way too wet to work. The trunk of a large well canopied tree was next maybe 70' away, but signal traveled "through the house" rather than one wall to outdoors. Couldn't get a signal. Back to the deck, under the handrail as a rain protector. I went picket by picket along the deck and found one where the interference light was not going off. Cool. Then the deck furniture went out. Back to find a new location. The bottom line is once I get it out to a point where there is no interference from WiFi and Microwave, it is out of range. I was planning to put the 5-in-1 out beside the house so I could get better wind readings, but if the lightning detector could not be found out there, the 5-in-1 on a post even farther out would be out of the question. I wish I had received the unit with the WiFi, but didn't, and the cost to add the WiFi adapter is just too high on its own. So, range, accumulator problems, no battery backup, lightning interference issues, and update delay, I could only give it three stars, but I still enjoy the beast.
I like this unit, I purchased 2 displays, one for my home office, the other for bedroom. The mounting bracket for the 5 in 1 sensor could have more than a perpendicular or 90 degree increment rotations. That does not allow mounting on a slanted surface. Simple redesign would be easy and helpful. The display unit can only operate off of AC/110 volt. Wish they had provided a USB power cord, is that possible? I need a weather station at my cabin, but it is totally off grid, be nice to be able to plug into my Goal Zero Yeti 400 to power display. Please advise... I have several different Acurite weather stations, please assist with USB power cord. Thanks
Very nicely designed, great features, well built but one MAJOR flaw is no battery backup for the display. Really? When there is severe weather there are power bumps and outages, just when you want to view the weather station. I am shocked the designers left this feature off. Also would have preferred ability to choose what shows in the rotating box. Other than those items, it's very nice.
