this is me 2nd unit(no fault of the unit...got liquid on the display unit and messed it up)...1st 5in1 had the ticker on the bottom, had for 7 yrs? so opted to change this one a bit by including the lightning detection. Absolutely love these units ..the family refers to them numerous times a day..would never change!
Guys. I bought this exact station four years ago. Still going strong. The only thing I’ve had to do is take it off the pole once a year when the batteries die. The lightning detector is SO worth it. It’s been so funny to see the absurd strike count after a thunderstorm. Would buy again.
Great station only ding wish display had battery backup

System does not have a battery in the main unit. If it losses power then you have to set it up again.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you. High-definition display units draw too much power for standard backup batteries to continue powering the display in the event of a power outage. However, we do offer an Uninterruptible Power Base that can be used with this display to provide battery backup during power outages. This is my third Acurite system that I have had over the years. This was easy to set up but I would suggest the following changes. I would have liked to have added my old screen as well as a lightening detector, but the system is limited to two items. Additionally, the screen "font" size is smaller than my old system. I think that a "senior" version using a larger screen or larger font or adjustable font could be added. The smaller screen could still be used but with fewer items displayed. The print is small, so it is difficult to see across the room. Lots of historical information is still available which is a nice feature.
