We employ this weather station at our Traverse Bay home in northern lower Michigan. The weather can be dynamic, with high winds and a large temperature swings. This is the best unit we have purchased to date, with a clear, bright display and an all-in-one sensor unit. The anemometer does occasionally freeze up in very low temperatures (could be moisture spray from the bay), but operates again in warmer temps. Our only frustration with the unit is the lack of battery backup for the display during power outages. While we have an full home emergency generator, it requires a few seconds to fire up and switch the home over to this supply. During that period the display loses its memory. The addition of a small rechargeable battery for this unit would be ideal.
The anemometer seems to undermeasure the wind speed. We've had some significant windy days when your own eyes tell you that there are gusts in the upper 20s to low 30s mph range yet the most the unit seems to register is upper teens. And yes I mounted the device atop a ten foot post in an unobstructed area. The cups appear to be spinning quickly and freely but still.

We had an older version and liked it just fine. This updated version with full color screen is even better! All of the stats it tracks for the day are very interesting to see at the end of the day. I haven't even put the lightning detector outside yet and it already tracked lightning from inside! Would definitely recommend this system. A !!
