Fantastic Product

I’m active law enforcement and use this every single day that I work. It helps me orient myself and keep track of where I am at all times. The device is very accurate and hasn’t failed me a single time. I would recommend this to everyone even those who aren’t in law enforcement.

Be careful with reconditioned

Bought a reconditioned unit for a trip. It seemed to work fine but on a later trip it overheated and failed. Returned to Garmin and they replaced it. Hope the replacement works. Otherwise I like the unit, accurate and easy to use. The small screen is just fine and not on the way. Seems odd that in only works when plugged into a power source.

This unit does not have a short distance screen. Some times it takes me way out of my destination.

Exceptionally satisfied with my Garmin Drive 53 operation. Always spot on with driving assistance. Traffic information is invaluable on long out of state trips.

Disappointed

I bought this garment to replace an old garmen than gave up and quit working after years of daily use. We primarily use a land tracker map that has worked in the other garments for years and now the map card says corrupt files even though I switch the card to one of the other garmens in use and the map functions properly. The new purchase is a Complete waste of time and money for my use. I feel the system should still operate along side the older ones

Some issues that concern me
on March 10, 2026

Sadly I lost my old Garmin 61.
I needed a replacement and bought this 53.
It's smaller which means the keypad is smaller and thus it's easier to accidently hit the wrong kry.
So far I've only used it a few times.
Two things that happened last night that concerned me were was I was in a portion of a nearby big city I wasn't very familiar with.
I selected "Go Home", it calculated then started giving directions.
Then several times went to "Calculating" and kept changing directions.
Finally, I was close to a Highway, the fastest way home, and it was trying to direct me around on side streets that definitely weren't the fastest way home.
