Excellent Appliance

No turntable, excellent features, just a first class appliance. We made the right move, it is used extensively every day, so easy to operate and so efficient. Excellent product.

Mounting bracket is too light.

I just installed the unit. The instructions need a bit of review for accuracy. Zero operating instructions, guessing on how to set the clock. The bracket is pretty flimsy, needs to be one gauge heavier. The decal on the glass is just wrong. It should not take 15 minutes with a scraper and an adhesive solvent (glass safe) to cleaner a sticker off. There are labels that peel of much cleaner.

Microwave quit in under 5 months!

I bought this microwave in June 2024, it stopped working on November 8th, 2024; literally just powered off mid use and wouldn't turn back on. I called Kitchenaid because it is still under warranty and they scheduled a local company called 'Appliance Hospital' (based out of Seattle, WA) for the repairs. Mind you, this unit is built into my cabinets above my stove, so I had to pay someone to uninstall the unit for the repair. The tech came out and said it needed multiple parts. The microwave sat in my garage for 3 weeks before the tech could come back out, as they said parts were not available. They came out on December 2nd and "fixed" it. I then paid a handyman (again) to re-install the unit. Last night, December 4th, the unit did the exact same thing it originally did and stopped working mid use. I called Appliance Hospital back and they said they cannot come back until next week, December 10TH to attempt another fix. I then called Kitchenaid customer service expecting them to just replace my unit, due to all the inconvenience. The rep told me they have to let the microwave get repaired again. Even after explaining to him how inconvenient and expensive this has been, it does not sound like KitchenAid is concerned with their customers once they make that sale. I am in week 4 with a big gaping hole in my kitchen where the mircowave belongs! I have no ventilation for my stove. I have to pay to have it "uninstalled" again for them to come back and attempt another fix. I am very disappointed that KitchenAid will not simply replace this microwave for me. This is the second Kitchenaid major appliance that I have had issues with (also had a very expensive Kitchenaid dishwasher quit on me in under 3 years)! Their appliances are not cheap, so you would think they would be built better. I would not recommend Kitchenaid appliances, especially now that I know that their customer service isn't willing to service the customer! I’m beyond frustrated and will make sure all my friends and family know to steer away from Kitchenaid!

Sleek modern design.

Particularly like that the full control panel is hidden behind the door but the most used controls are available on the front of the door. We also like that the air intake is also hidden by its own door that opens only when in use and closes when cooking is finished.
