Great unit

I was looking for an air conditioner for my son's room because it is the warmest room in our house. I ordered this one before looking at the reviews. after ordering I noticed it got poor reviews and started to worry. now that it is installed I am nothing but impressed. It works great and has a normal noise level as to be expected with a window AC unit.
If I needed to install more I would definitely buy this again.

Good Unit

Was dubious about window boxes as I have a horizontal slider, made a frame and it fits well. Little noisier than I expected and seems to make quite a noise when water pools in the unit. Does not drip like my neighbours unit which looks like a constant tap is turned lol. I figure its because mine is newer and has a deeper water pool tray. Have noticed its a gotten a little louder, I may open up one the holes I drilled in the drip tray to see with less water if that helps any as I thought pooling water inside was no good until I realised it actually can help the unit. Remote a little off at times, I set the follow me, temp set to 21 but unit shuts off around 23 ambient temp, not sure why. Anyways its cools my bedroom off way quicker than expected and my portable 12000btu unit in my living space is out to shame by this unit!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Loud, nonfunctional remote

It's much louder than advertised, it's around 80 db and the compressor makes a high pitched wining noise. The remote only seems to function half the time and will flash will
with all symbols but not control the A/C unit.

The outside grill also arrived with a large dent. I would choose a different air conditioner

New model DOA or mine is defective

Looks like it's a new model from Danby and it looks nice.
I got it to replace a cheap 5000 BTU ac that lasted 3 years until the thermostat died.

Noise
I put all necessary padding to eliminate vibrations.
This unit is louder than my old unit, louder than a 10k btu unit I have in the living room and louder than a Danby 5000 BTU unit a friend of mine has.
In a addition to a loud compressor it makes an annoying high pitched hissing sound when cooling, sounds like it's coming from the front radiator.

Water drainage
Looks like the water pools under one of the fans and it makes a different kind of loud noise, I have it at an angle like the manual says and there is no water dripping indoors.
I tried draining the water by holding the ac at an almost 90 degree angle and the noise went away.

Cooling performance
I use it for a small bedroom so it's more than enough, but I was expecting a higher boost going from 5K to 6K BTU.

My unit could be defective and I'm returning it to get a different model, I don't want to try this particular model again mainly because of water pooling under the fan issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I’ve had it for about a week, and it already rattles one the lowest fan setting. It’s supposed to be for my bedroom.

Great little unit

I bought this to replace a defective one I ordered. I have to saw it is relatively quiet, was easy to install, and cools very well. I am very impressed. It even has a remote so I can adjust the settings. I should have ordered this one the first time...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Before buying this unit, I checked the comments on this page and saw that it had mixed reviews. I decided to take the risk anyway because of how hot it’s been where I live. I’m glad I took the risk! It really isn’t noisy, I wonder if the people who commented that it was didn’t follow the manual when installing it. My room is chilly - perfect for hot summer nights! My roommate is getting one for her tomorrow because she saw how nice this one was. Suffice to say it’s great!
I would recommend this to a friend!
