I wish I'd held out to run gas lines.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a "new" home that had an electric stove with "eyes" after cooking with gas for over 30 years. We had thought we might run gas lines and replace this stove with gas, but soon realized it would be a costly venture to run lines and vent it, so I compromised with a smooth top. First off, it was replacing a drop-in, which we did not realize. The measurements should have fit, but we ended up having to hire someone to cut 1/4" off granite countertops on both sides. A very messy process, then the plug would not fit against the wall smoothly, so the stove stuck out, and this took some cutting into the wall. I'm simply having a hard time adjusting to cooking with electricity, it cooks hotter and faster than gas. Plus it's hard to keep clean and have already, in less than a week, made marks that won't come off. I will probably have to buy a whole new set of pots and pans because I may scratch it. If you don't wipe up a spill immediately, which is hard to do on a hot eye, it cooks it onto the surface. I'm disappointed, but it's not because of the stove's performance, but because of the type it is. And the clock is very bright and there's no way to dim the light.
