Great additional cooling for my Study

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since COVID days, I have been working remotely for my job, which means I spend half of my waking hours in my study/computer room and the door mostly closed during meetings.
This is all typically well and good, however this room is at the farthest part of the house from the HVAC, so the strength of the cooling from my central AC is rather pitiful. During the summer months and even during warm spring weather, the room can get really stuffy and hot, especially with my computers running.
I have tried various ways to try to remedy this, including a regular window fan. This season I decided to bite the bullet and try to find a window AC that is not loud enough to disrupt my conference calls, and also within my budget.
Lo and behold, I found this AC -- works very well right out the gate, and comes with some decent insulation to cover the big gaping portions of the window. I did end up getting some more insulation to cover the sides, which also help with keeping bugs out.
Placed on Low fan works well enough for me, and keeps the room very comfortable! I still yet have to see how this addition would affect my electric bill, but in reality this will only be running during summer months, and also the AC is not on all the time -- it comes on for 10-15 minutes or so and then turns back off just to maintain the temperature in the room.
Definitely recommended for those that are in a similar situation as I am.

Good Investment

Good price, but had to get used to its "features".

We liked the price and I was happy about the remote control and energy features. However, the energy saving mode is definitely something you have to get used to. It cycles on every 10 minutes to sample the air. If it doesn't need to go on, it just shuts down for another 10 minutes. I'm not sure why it can't just use an ambient temperature sensor and only go on when it needs to. We may have to go back to straight cooling mode where the fan runs constantly. Also, the water retention feature, where it saves the accumulated condensate water to splash on the evaporator coils to help it cool adds some funky sounds. On really humid days, the accumulated water sloshes around a lot when the fan starts and stops. I'm not sure I'd buy this unit again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cools well but fan is too loud!!

We use this air conditioner to supplement our HVAC in an upstairs bedroom. This particular model cools very well, but it really needs one more low fan speed, or at least a quieter fan. Compared to the model with the knobs (not the digital interface), this model is much, much louder. I also wish it would stay on the mode that was last used and not always default to the energy saving mode.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great value

Got this to supplement a 220V wall unit in the front of our home and maybe save a bit of money by using it instead of the wall unit on cooler days due to its 12.5 efficiency. Electricity use has been noticeably better than with the wall unit alone and I expect to recoup the cost of this unit by the end of summer. It really cools a room quickly, too.

Keeps us cool but has two major flaws.

Wish I could recommend this AC but it has 2 design flaws. [1] the cleaning unit slides in and out from the side and can be very difficult to slide back in place. [2] The accordion sides that are used to fit the window don't fit tightly so a black tape is provided that is ugly and hard to work with.

Just what I needed!

I bought this in May and so far it is working great. It has been an especially hot summer, and I am using this unit to cool my bedroom (12x10) at night and it is just what I needed.
