Disappointing

I like the design of the new Embr Wave 2. It's more attractive and smaller than its original, and I do prefer the new charger even.
My main disappointment is that it's advertised as having more cooling power, but it I feel it's substantially weaker than the original Embr Wave. If I do not have it on the max coolness, I genuinely feel nothing.
I have also noticed that the battery life is much worse. With the original, I used it for "Sleep Mode" for the 8 hour setting and use for "Essential" mode several times throughout the day, and still only have to charge it every other day or less. With the Embr Wave 2, I have to charge daily to even use it just for Sleep Mode, without any use throughout the day for "Essential."
All in all, I will probably continue using the original. It was a much better investment.

Hey Spencer, thanks for your candid feedback — we appreciate it! We've passed this along to our support team to see if they can help, since it does sound like your Wave 2's battery is not lasting as long as expected. For cooling, one thing to check would be where the Wave is positioned on your arm/wrist. While our testing showed that the slightly smaller ceramic plate of the Wave 2 made cooling sensations feel more intense compared to Wave 1, it does mean that it can be easier to miss the "sweet spot" on your arm that will be most receptive to cooling. We hope a little nudge in the right direction might make all the difference for you!

I miss my Wave 1

I have now had the Wave 2 for about a month now, and my feedback is that the new app isn’t as user friendly as the original app. I also feel like the battery life is much shorter. I’m not a fan of the battery charger as I have found if it falls off the base it’s no longer charging. I do enjoy that it’s smaller. I liked the 0-12 range on heating and cooling on previous version. Now the range is 0-5.

Thanks for your feedback! A few quick things:
* With the nylon band, you can flip the band up so that it's above the Wave when it's charging if you find it's not stable with the band underneath.
* The Wave 2 actually has a greater range of cooling and warming, though the increments of adjustment are a little different. In the Wave 1 app, it's 9 steps (whole numbers from 2-11) vs. the Wave 2 app, it's also 9 steps (whole and half numbers 1-5—so, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, etc.).
* If you think your battery isn't lasting as long as it should, please send our support team a message: embrlabs.com/contact

Hope this helps!

I’ve had both Wave 1 and Wave 2 and they both were confusing to use. I still don’t understand them and I have a college degree. Better instructions are needed.

I am always overheating and

I am always overheating and sweating at inappropriate times. I bought the Embr to see if it would help me cool down during those times. While it doesn't stop me from sweating, it does make it feel like I'm putting an ice cube on my wrist. My only complaint is that while the cool feeling comes in waves, the device gets pretty hot in between the spurts of cool. I recognize it takes a lot of energy to produce the cooling sensation, but would be nice not to ebb between hot and cold when I'm sweating.

Thanks for your review! One tip that might help is to make sure you're wearing your Wave an inch or two down from your hand so that you don't touch the metal top and sides. During cooling (especially if you're using intense sessions or multiple in a row), these parts of your Wave can get warm as it's pulling heat away from your body and working to generate cool sensations on your skin. If you think your Wave is getting extremely warm when it should be cooling, definitely send us a message so we can try to help!

Clear improvement over the original
on September 15, 2021

Certainly more comfortable than the first version. Better size, better charging method, better with choice of band. However, maybe it’s just my imagination, but I feel like the Embr 2 doesn’t cool as well as the Embr 1. Maybe because the unit itself is smaller, so makes less contact on my wrist? Or perhaps it’s just in my head. In every other respect, it’s a clear improvement over the 1.

Jasper, thanks for this awesome review! Our testers found that the smaller ceramic plate made the sensations feel more powerful, but the flip side of that is that it may take a little trial and error to find that "sweet spot" since you've got a slightly smaller target to work with!

Much to our disappointment the long awaited Embr 2 did not relieve my mother’s hot flashes adequately. I am sad to report I am returning the unit tomorrow.
Response from embrwave.comBy September 16, 2021
We're sad to hear that, too--but we know that temperature is really personal and the Wave won't be right for every person out there. We appreciate that you gave it a shot and wish you good luck on finding something that works better for your mom!

This was a gift for my wife, to help her during our incredibly hot summer. It was very disappointing we didn't get receive it before July, but she's loved it. The device does a great job regulating her overall body temperature. She also likes the design of her Ember Wave 2 version. It's been great.
Response from embrwave.comBy September 16, 2021
Hey Shaun, thanks for your patience with your pre-order! We're so glad that your wife thought it was worth the wait :heartpulse:

Wave 2: subtle and effective
on September 16, 2021

I must admit that I was worried when I saw the smaller ceramic heating/cooling pad. I thought that it wouldn't be as effective at helping to cool me down, which is mostly what I use it for.
The cold, which I always turn ALL THE WAY UP (or down, as is the case) isn't perhaps as noticeable after the first few waves, but that's because it's working. I've had multiple instances where I didn't even need the full 10-minute session to cool down, which is awesome!
Since I generally use the Wave 2 for hot flash relief, I'm just now starting to try to use it to relieve stress, and to help me sleep.
One thing I'm not wild about is the need to constantly "connect" to the Wave 2, which is different from the 1st iteration. It's inconvenient, but perhaps is designed that way to spare battery life vs being constantly connected.
I'm also going through info on the phone app, and it's good to know that I can use the Wave 2 without the app. I generally lower the cooling temp and raise the heating temp every time I use the Wave 2, so it's clear that I can do that on the Wave 2 without the phone app.
I originally purchased the Wave 1 at the end of 2019, went to the beach, and stupidly shoved my arm in the water, which killed it. I waited a long time to get the Wave 2, and I love the smaller size, the thinner band, and the look and effectiveness. I also love the new charger, which is more convenient to use than the Wave 1 plug-in method.
Embr Labs, thank you so much for a great, and super effective product.
I'm a happy customer!
Response from embrwave.comBy September 16, 2021
So glad to hear you're enjoying your new Wave! You shouldn't need to have to re-connect every time you use the app, so it sounds like we may need to troubleshoot there. Someone from our team will be reaching out to help!
