Vacation Mode

We went on vacation. Were gone for two months. Before we left, the filter was fine. We came home and the filter light was on. No one was here for 2 months, meaning....the water dispenser and the ice maker were unused for 2 months. How is it that we need a filter??? And I've been reading through the reviews, I'm not sure I want to deal with this kind of headache!! Only 3 good reviews and the rest are unhappy people!! Like I said, there is NO WAY this needs a filter ALREADY!! There are two of us that use this fridge. Not EVEN POSSIBLE!

money pit

these have to be replaced more often than six months. and after about a month the water flow decreases drastically. I feel like I am paying a monthly subscription to own this fridge, and I am pretty sure I could rent one for less money per month. Total crap.

Last two filter purchased only lasted 1-2 weeks

My experience with the last 4 filters purchased...two lasted about 2-3 months. At the end of June, I purchased a filter that lasted a week or two, before only a trickle of water came out. *Shook it, tapped...put it back in...still no change. Purchase another filter a week ago, and we are down to a trickle again. So frustrated. It is like rolling the dice on whether or not you will get a working filter, and they are expensive. I have reached out to Whirlpool a few years ago, because this is a common occurrence with this filter. We do not use the water filter excessively...mainly for ice maker, and glasses of water. We have learned over the years...to treat it gently, so overuse is definitely not the issue with the filter. If you use the water dispenser frequently...I would not recommend a refrigerator that use this filter. Save your money!

Frustrated, but glimmers of good.

We like the quality of water that gets dispensed, but it regularly clogs up, even within the first 6 weeks. If we pull it out, shake it and put it back, it helps for a handful of days. Really wish these worked better. Especially since we don’t really have a choice and they are expensive to replaced. Makes me want to avoid Whirlpool products in the future. If they worked as long as they are supposed to, we would be happy with the product.

Expensive filter: Do not buy a Whirlpool fridge!

This filter is far too expensive and needs to be replaced every few months. Be warned: Don't buy a Whirlpool refrigerator as it comes with hidden costs like these.

Filter worked for less than 2 weeks

This is a third Whirlpool filter that I tried in my KitchenAid refrigerator, which is fully compatible as per the KitchenAid website. The filter worked well for one week, then the water flow slowed down to the point that it took a 2-3 minutes to fill up a cup of water. I live in NYC where tap water quality if very high. I would expect the filter to work well for at least a few months. Switching filters every two weeks seems highly unsustainable. This has been a very disappointing experience.

Does not work, no water flows through

I replaced this filter as recommended and the water stopped flowing. Troubleshooting said to put the old filter back in to see if the problem was the filter- the old filter works just fine, so clearly the issue is this filter. Useless, and yet it is supposedly the exact filter that comes with the fridge??

Filters are the worst

I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator in June of 2021. This refrigerator uses the #1 filter. I have to change this filter every two months in order to have water that doesn't taste lilke chlorine. Never before have I had filters that didn't last the full six months. This is and has become a very expensive way to filter my water. Water has been tested and it is fine so we can't blame it on my water.
