Brother MFC-J5340DW is the worst printer-EVER!

The new MFC-J5340DW was a bear to try to set up in Nov 2023.. Up til then, I had excellent results with two Brother printers, but this one wasted, literally, hours and hours of my life trying to get it to print. Finally brought my old MFC back upstairs while I wasted my life with the new one. Finally got the new one running in March 24, then I had to add my first color ink, and the printer ate up 3 new Brother color cartridges in about 10 pages of normal printing. Bought yet ANOTHER set of color cartridges, and they are printing OK. But, then, the black went to "low level" and after installing a new Brother BK, it printed 30% lines - NO BLACK! I can't even find a Maintenance feature to clean and/or prime the black cartridge! Now, I'm uninstalling and re-installing the Brother Utilities and praying for God to help me or strike me dead. I would rate this one Zero Stars if I could. But again, the older Brothers were great! Who knew?

This is a complete scam. You fill this printer up with expensive ink, then a bit later try to print something only to find that it has self-emptied all the ink cartridges.

Almost a five star

I purchased this printer to replace a similar HP printer that died and I like this one much better. It is faster and has a nice single sheet feeder. Print quality is excellent. So far I've used it for one month (about 250 pages) and it has worked very well. So, why did I say "almost 5 stars"? It does lack one feature that would make it a full five stars but its lack doesn't warrant taking off a full star. The ADF doesn't allow for two side copying. You can do two sided copying by hand but it would be nice if one could stick 2-sided originals in the ADF and have it produce two sided copy.

Great machine, expensive cartridges

I work at home and my company provided me with this machine as a replacement for the MFC-J5830DW. I need a machine that can print on 17 x 11 paper on occasion. To me, the machines seem virtually identical, except the cartridges for the MFC-J5340DW are about twice as expensive and not as many vendors carry them. While this machine prints fast and has great quality for business use, I would rather highly recommend the MFC-J5830 due to economy of use instead. It is the best machine I have used over the past 30 years.

Close but not quite

When it works, it's fine. But there are constant connectivity issues and the problem isn't in the wireless network. Sometimes the printer works but not the scanner, or the scanner does but printing is dicey. The paper feeder constantly jams. I've cleaned the roller but it's brand new and shouldn't need that. It works for a few minutes then has problems again.

Multifunctional for easier multitasking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great multifunction printer for those of us working at home or for a small business owner. You can send jobs either via a wired connection or wirelessly from your phone which is very convenient. Of course you can print, scan and and make copies (pretty quickly I might add) but you can also fax! I don't do much faxing but it definitely came in handy when I had to send secure documents to my doctor's office. Comes with everything you could need, including the line to connect to a phone jack for faxing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

At first glance the ability to print straight from my phone is new to me, and god what a wonderful ability. Easy to set up, ink that isn't super expensive, and even a fax hookup should the need arise

I love how it’s all wireless so you can connect it to your wifi and do Mobil printing! The design is so nice, looks perfect for your office.. it’s not to heavy either. It is easy to use and has been a great addition to my working needs!
