Technological terror

I have several Alen filters and think they are great - which is why I was excited to get the 75i. I was hopeful for the better life of the new filters. But the control panel on the new 75i is a mess. Alen should stick with being an air purifying company. I recommend the regular breathesmart.

Better than expected

We have had our 75i for about a month and have been surprised how well it has performed. We originally wanted it in case there are any more fires in our area. Our entire house smelled like smoke for weeks after the Santa Rosa fires even though we were 60 miles away. Luckily we haven’t had a fire to test how well it works for that, but we are seeing how well it works in everyday living. We have an open floor plan including a dining room with high ceilings, a living room and kitchen. We have played around with setting the controls manually and using the auto function. We now use it on auto all of the time. When the air is clean it is running on a low setting that is impossible to hear. When we do a lot of cooking in the kitchen it detects that and goes to a higher speed until the air has cleared... then it goes back to a lower speed. It is located in our dining room and somehow circulates the air throughout all of the spaces. It also has a light that changes colors depending on how clean or dirty the air is. At first I thought it was kind of gimmicky, but have found it really helps us evaluate how well the system is working. Now that we have seen how well it works we will probably purchase another unit for our bedroom.

Too soon to tell ... check me in 6 months after going through a few seasons .... I have a wood stove plus I am an oil painter... so there are VOCs in the air most days ...

Good investment, very efficient on larger spaces

The filter has been working well in our 1000 sq/ft. I can see it adapting to the changing quality of the air (very evident when we cook), and it is surprisingly quiet in the lower settings and not bad at all on the turbo setting. We tried a Molekule for a while and their "turbo" setting was much louder. Considering the layout is not 100% open I think it is working really well. We have a 1 1/2 year old and the lock function is helpful. One thing I would have liked to see is the ability to lock it when the lights are off. With the lights off our toddler knows that by pressing somewhere it'll bring the lights back on and eventually ends up modifying the settings. So, it is either lights off or locked.
