Good, but I prefer the FIT50

I bought a FIT50 shortly before buying a regular BreatheSmart. I have found that I prefer the FIT50 for these reasons: 1. The unit does not automatically come back on following a power outage. It just so happens that we have had two power outages since I received it. The FIT50 came back on right away, the BreatheSmart had to be turned on. Not a huge deal if I am here, but what if I was out of town? 2. The unit does not have a Lock button like the FIT50 does to prevent accidental button pushes say by a child. 3. The body of the unit is white, but the power cord is black. Tacky! On the FIT50, both are white.
The air purifiication seems fine, but I am disppointed that the more expensive unit actually has less features.

Allergy Relief at last!
on February 8, 2016

Our home is over 100 yrs. old. I’m guessing that our duct work is at least 60-70 yrs old. We have lived here 35 yrs. and I know that the duct work has never been cleaned out any more than what I can reach with a vacuum hose. Although they are cleaned a few times a year our carpeting and drapes are over 25 yr. old. We have always had at least one resident cat and one dog and many children, our own, grand kids and I run a home daycare. Although I keep the house reasonably clean these are all cause for dust allergens a flow. We decided to purchase an air purifier because I have allergies that I have learned to ignore but one of our married daughters has developed terrible allergies the past few years. Her house is carpet, pet and air scent freshener free. No more real Christmas tree for her. .Problem was that every time that she came to visit our home she was miserable the entire stay with congestion, watery eyes and runny nose. I did a great deal of research on air purifiers. Some I found to be much cheaper, some more expensive, some not so great reviews and others sounded somewhat comparable in reviews but the one that always stood out as the best quality and value in all reviews was the Alen Breathe Smart Fit50 Air Purifier. We purchased it through Bed Bath and Beyond in a white finish. We set it up in about 5 min. on a side table in the living room a few days before my daughter and her family arrived for the Christmas holidays. It was set on the auto setting and along with a fresh furnace filter as we have always done almost monthly for 36 yrs. The first few days the BreatheSmart ran on high speed continuously but even at that the noise was so minimal that no one noticed unless right next to it. It did not look obvious in the room. Eventually it automatically went to a lower speed. My daughter and her family spent a week with us. My daughter was so grateful. She felt so much better during her visit -allergy relief that she didn't even have to take her allergy pills except when she spend a day at another relatives home. Even her husband who is very particular commented that the air seemed noticeably fresher (maybe no old house smell). To have that visit go off without the usual discomfort and complaining was worth every penny spent on the air purifier. It is now February, I feel that we have had this machine long enough to give it a fair evaluation. I have never turned the machine off. It is set on automatic and runs on low most of the time and we don't even notice it operating. Operating cost have not been noticeable. The Alen Breathe Smart Fit50 Air Purifier has been a good purchase for us and I would recommend it to anyone

I have severe dust allergies.

I have severe dust allergies. I keep a very clean home, however my apartment building was built in the early 1940’s, and even with the remodeling that was done, the vents have never been cleaned. Before owning the Alen air purifier, within an hour in my apartment, I would be sneezing, coughing, runny nose and headaches. Two nights of sleep left me with a respiratory infection that lasted a week. In addition to requesting the building maintenance clean the vents, I purchased this filter and haven’t experienced any symptoms since then. It has completely changed my life. Thank you!

A great buy after months of reviews prior to purchase.

I have looked for the best air purifier for my house for months. Every web site "review" I looked at was either biased or totally different styles and line then the other sites. So I took it upon myself to figure out which purifier would give me clean air without an empty pocket. When you combine cost of filters, warranty, com stoner satisfaction, and features all together, the Allen breathe smart will win every time. My family owns several other brands and mine puts there's to shame. I am sure if you are still reading this you are probably saying " which employee of Allen's is weighting this but I truly am not. I was so happy I have three purifiers all Allen's in my home. Now I am looking to put one in my office.

I don't notice a big difference of lessening of dust. But I love the simplicity of the machine and the cleaning of the filters. I have two machines.

Bought a second unit!

I've replaced my two Alen 375's with two BreathSmart machines. I have found that the filters in the BreathSmart last longer and are much quieter when running at the #2 speed settings versus the #3 speed setting of the 375's. They also do a better job of refreshing the air because of the extra volume of are that is filtered. I have a large home so I was happy that Alen came out with the larger volume air purifiers. I also own a Blueair 503 that I use at home. I'm a fanatic when it comes to breathing air clean. I have had ongoing respiratory issues since I was a kid, but when I am home, I know I can breath easy...

So far so good. It's very quiet. Does a fairly descent job with removing cooking odors (bought the upgraded filter for that), the smells or lack thereof is noticeable. As for air purification, it's on automatic and it does go green, but no real qualitative feel as to whether it's helping with air quality or not... I have the sense that it is, but will need more time to know for sure. Just having the sense that the air is cleaner makes one mind more at ease and thus one's body more at rest.
