Fantastic Fridge with a couple of design flaws

After much research, we purchased the Frigidaire professional French door refrigerator a couple of weeks ago. It is a fantastic fridge, well laid out inside and I love the 40/60 door split. Also love the fact that the crisper drawers can open fully with just the door in front of them being open. Many competitors’ French door fridges require both doors to be open for either of the crisper drawers to open fully which is annoying. Also love the tall water bottle dispenser which fits our sports bottles easily. And the second ice maker in the lower freezer section which can be easily turned on or off as needed will also be very handy. We find the fridge quiet and are very pleased with our purchase.
The only complaints I have is that the doors do not open fully (only open to 120 degrees rather than 180) so this makes removing the upper ice maker difficult. Also, the hinge is positioned such that the fridge must stick out 6” from the edge of the pantry in order for the doors to open, so it is not flush with the pantry at all, despite being “counter depth”. That’s probably my biggest complaint. I wish the designers had used a different hinge design. But other than that, I would highly recommend this fridge.

DO NOT PURCHASE - FRIDGE WILL NOT LAST

Had the fridge for almost two years and the sensor for the second draw went. Tech came to see what was wrong .. said I need new display panel for draw, plus the two for the door as they were all connect some how. Tech came in to replace the parts and it still did not work. On top of that .. I guess when the tech replaced the parts .. something else ended up breaking or blowing in the fridge as the ice machine stopped working. After 3 months going back and forth with the tech ... it is headed for the junk yard. DO NOT PURCHASE THE FRIDGE. I even called Frigidaire to see if they could possibly do anything to help me out .. since this fridge was not cheap .. there answer to me was no nothing they can do as the fridge was no longer under warranty and of course I did not purchase the extended warrant.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the extra ice bin in the freezer

We have had this fridge for about a month and it has been a great addition to our kitchen. It can be a little loud when making the ice but the benefits of having the extra ice bin makes it worth it.

DOES NOT FIT STANDARD OPENING

I was appalled to find that the 36" wide counter-depth fridge opens to 41" across. The designers did not add a simple swivel on the door hinge which would alleviate this issue, to ensure that the overall footprint of the fridge does not get wider when the doors are open.
Obviously the entire idea of a "counter-depth" fridge is that it does not stick out past your counters. This fridge is advertised as counter-depth, but as you can see, it is not.
Additionally, with this colossal oversight in door hinge design it makes the fridge unusable when installed.
The cost to modify our kitchen framing and cabinetry to accommodate this fridge would be astronomical, so our only option is to return it unused.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ice Dispenser

Okay this is a nice fridge but having a problem with the ice dispenser or the toggle switch, I am not sure which. I really have to push hard on the bottom of the toggle switch. If I don’t hit it hard and fast I have ice everywhere. I am wondering if anyone else has a problem like this.
