How 'bout a review from a P16 owner, not a whiner.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to replace a P52/P3200/4K machine. I do CAD (PTC Creo and Fusion 360), photo editing (Lightroom and Photoshop), 3D printing, video editing. My P16 is an i9 P12900HX, 64GB, RTX A4500, IPS 4K+ display.
Seems to work fine with the Thunderbolt 3 dock I bought with the P52. Dual 4K Benq SW271 screens on the dock, plus a bunch of USB peripherals including a Motu M4 audio interface, Tascam Model 12 Mixer. Space Pilot Pro 3D mouse plus other norm odds and ends.
This machine performs. Some Topaz AI plugs for photo editing are GPU enabled, and flat-out fly on this rig. Realtime rendering in CREO performs better than anything I've seen before.
I was happy to see the 230W power adapter isn't the giant brick that came with my Thunderbolt Dock, but a new design that is only a hair larger than the 170W adapter I've been using. The screen looks great. Keyboard is what I expect from Lenovo.
I changed the storage from a single 1TB M.2 2280 to a pair of FireCuda 530 4TB drives. Access under the keyboard to replace the OE drive was painless. The secondary drive was under the small bottom cover.
For cooling, this thing can move a LOT of air. Fan noise gets a bit loud when the machine is being taxed, but throttling isn't too bad. Cinebench R23 is 18540. CPU clocked at 2.9 GHz when running the benchmark.
Battery life is disappointing, but when you buy this kind of power draw you can't expect great battery life. Don't plan to be out more than a couple hours without having a power supply handy.
Lack of an ethernet port is disappointing, but easily fixed with the dongle.
I do very little gaming, but the gaming benchmarks I've done have been quite strong.
I'm quite happy with this beast. Think I'll be able to keep this running a lot longer than I had the P52.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had W and P workstations for over two decades.... Its been a great adventure but this Ethernet port nonsense is probably the end of my Lenovo Product purchases...
I have to say every year they manage to screw up at least one aspect of these nearly perfect Workstations... but this last one takes the CAKE...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Powerful laptop but it has flaws

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop is a CPU powerhouse. We spec'd it with an i7-12800HX processor and it gets a score of ~19,000 on Cinebench. The previous laptop that the P16 line is replacing, a P15 (gen 2), got a score of ~11,000 so the P16 has a substantially higher score. Also, for reference, my slightly older P53 gets a score of ~6,000. For those who don't know, the Intel 12th gen HX processors are desktop processors packaged for laptops so they have a lot of power.
As for the cons:
- It has no physical ethernet port! The slim P14s gen3 laptop managed to include an ethernet port but not this one? Come on Lenovo. This is a pretty sad omission, especially since it is a workstation-class laptop and given its thickness/size.
- This thing is a little chunkier size/weight-wise compared to previous P15 and P5x laptops.
- It is grey. This is a p-Series laptop. I want it in black.
way over priced and not worth the hassle can't ever set it up without costing more money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far a great laptop and comes well spec’Ed for the price. Only downside is that it’s pretty heavy, but given it’s a workstation, perhaps that’s a given. Battery life is fair.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an incredible machine. Fast, beautiful display, loaded with features.
Mine came with a 1 TB NVME M.2 SSD which I replaced with two 4 TB NVME M.2 SSDs and mirrored them (RAID 1).
The P70 that it replaced could take 4 drives (2 SSD and 2 IDE). It would have been nice if this laptop would have taken 3 SSDs so I could run RAID 5 instead of RAID 1.
This uses the power port and 1 USB-C/Lightening port for the docking station. I miss the docking station connector on the bottom that the P70 has.
Since this is a 16" instead of a 17" the keys are a little closer together and not quite a molded at the keys on my P70.
Over all I would recommend this to anyone who needs a top of the line mobile workstation.
