Problems
on February 21, 2023

Entering "0" instead of leaving a field blank bizarrely gives the program fits. It's extremely frustrating given that it CAN'T BE CORRECTED. The program also went back and forth on whether I'd paid $800 or $1600 for the state return. And it identified a problem "Principal Business Code cannot be left blank" and would not let me edit it.

Very user friendly

This is my second year using Turbo Tax Business. I initially tried a different software because I had trouble with e-filing last year and it was a little cheaper. I ultimately came back to Turbo Tax because it is so much more user friendly and no trouble e-filing this year! It's worth the extra cost.

Business turbo tax lagging behind

I love the personal turbo tax, but the business version only works on PC, so I have to use another computer. There aren't as many checks and balances, or descriptions to help me know I'm doing my taxes right, especially for the state return. It said I should get a refund due to over paying and then... that there is no refund. I wish the Business turbo tax was just like the main personal / home version, which is great and fills me with more confidence.

A few minor bugs for Trusts, otherwise good.

I've been using TurboTax for Business for about 20 years. The last few years I've been using it to file returns for a family trust. I guess the fact that I keep coming back means something. I usually find a couple of problems that are minor enough I can work around them. I always write reviews and don't know if Intuit is listening, because sometimes the same problems go from one year to the next.
For 2022 tax year, I entered a number in Other Income, and later found a better place to enter that income. But the Other income amount kept showing my original entry on my main Income screen even after I went through it again and said "No" I didn't get any other income. This appeared to be a display issue only (the extra income didn't show up on the tax forms, thank goodness), but it was disconcerting to see wrong numbers in my summary.
At some point in the process of the interview TT told me to print and mail an informational return 1041-A (this cannot be filed electronically). I saved the TT file at that point (without printing). When I reopened TT the next day that 1041-A was nowhere to be found in the interview. I went back through everything again and it never came back up! I had to search for it in the Forms view (good thing I remembered the form number) and it took me a while to find it, too. Then, since it doesn't say on the form itself, I didn't know what IRS address I was supposed to send it to. So I had to go look that up with Google. It was kind of a hassle. Hopefully all's well that ends well.
In general I think the more common your tax situation, the more likely TT will work smoothly for you. I've never had TT make an actual mistake -- that I know of! -- on the taxes it filed for me.
I was also bummed that TT doesn't support my state's 1041 form. I had to go online and fill that out manually with my state.

IRS Changed Business Codes for 2022
on February 22, 2023

The IRS changed its business codes for 2022, but TurboTax Business was not updated with the proper codes in its search function. I had to go through the full form 1065 instructions on the IRS's website to find the proper code. Other than that, everything was great!
