TurboTax Business and Trusts

The data entry process for filing federal and state taxes for a family estate went pretty smoothly, but the process failed when I selected the efile option. The filing kept failing the review process but the error message was generic and did not explain why the filing could not escape the review loop. I searched online for help and tried many changes within the TurboTax Business software, but ultimately had to print the fed and state filings and submit them in the mail. Descriptive error messages would be very helpful for filers hoping to submit returns electronically. If, for whatever reason, a filing cannot be submitted electronically, include a message that states that the efile option is not available for the filing. Help filers avoid wasting time troubleshooting impossible tasks.

TurboTax is so easy to use

I completed all the required forms online. Before I started, I had all of my expenses, income, and deductions recorded in Excel but I had to make some edits after reviewing tips provided by TurboTax. The software did not automatically close the session, thank goodness!

Not user friendly

Turbotax Business is not as user friendly as the Turbotax for personal returns. The step-by-step does not guide you through all the forms, so you must find them yourself.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments

I don't understand why one has to buy a new copy every year, It seems to me an update file would be more cost effective to small business owners

Turbotax could be so much better

I started my s-corp last year as a side project and never got around to doing anything with it. There should be an easy method for companies in this same scenario to file an easy "non-op" return if there was no business performed
