TurboTax Business for Trusts is awful

Ridiculous that you need to buy TurboTax Business for a simple trust to file a 1041. Nothing is automated, cannot import brokerage accounts. State doesn't do anything, just presents a form and tells you to fill it out.

It would be great to have more pointers on how to submit W2s, how to submit payroll taxes, etc. whenever payroll tax withheld mismatches salaries paid.

Outsourcing to a Tax Professional Next Year

We are a pre-revenue company with no income, and it took over 12 hours to complete federal and two state taxes for my c-corp business. Knowing how much time I spent trying to prepare this, I would have outsourced this to someone else. The Business version is not nearly as helpful or insightful as the Individual tax prep services. Referenced Google & ChatGPT to clarify on most questions.

form 502 before submit issue for many years

form 502 doesn't allows for negative numbers and I was unable to submit for hours until I found a solution online
The software plus state fees cost more than 200 and they still can't get it right.
Last year I had issue with form 502A and I had to delete it to submit.
Virginia requires S corp to e-file and this software years after years is just a nightmare and a waste of time

Won't use it again

I used Quickbooks online all year because I thought it would make it easier to use Turbotax at the end of the year. Amazingly, they don't talk to each other and I went through a lot to finally print the QB data and enter it manually. Then the State return that I bought turned out not to populate the information either and I had to do it manually. Very unhappy experience
