EFile for Business 1065 error

The Texas state form requested my Texas Tax ID and Webfile number. On the TurboTax form, the number entered beside my company name is is two digits short. the coding is similar to a Federal EIN XX-XXXXXX where it should be 11 digits XXXXXXXXXX. My company Tx Webfile starts with FQ not TX.

Could do with more smarts and more transparency

Silent failure to import the previous year's return disappointing. Seemed related to have/haven't used TT before question which does not compute since there are many scenarios when a novice would want to import the previous return that had been prepared by someone else.
Also had a problem with a zombie foreign tax credit form which mysteriously appeared to be needed when it was not. US Trust with the Trustee currently resident in NZ.

1099-R entry confusing

Simple trust return with 1099-R income from life insurance surrender. Very little help / explanation entering 1099-R form data. Turbotax Business only asks for "Other Income". None of the other entries in the form. There was Gross Distribution and Taxable Income. From asking around and online research I entered taxable income and am hoping that is correct as it seems right but it would be nice if the business product had clearer definition on this. It's the only reason I bought it in addition to my usual Turbotax for 1040 which seems a lot better designed.

Makes the easy parts easy

Turbo Tax does all of the common parts of a return with little effort. More complex areas of the return are much less well documented (which is much of why I pay for Turbo Tax at all). Lots of individual research of nuanced areas is still required at a cost of many hours every year. The primary benefit of Turbo Tax is the electronic filing and historical information from previous years being automatically input. Final checks and audit protection are comforting. I will continue to use Turbo Tax because of these benefits.
Please, Congress give us reform and simplification (I don't even care if I pay more, I just want to spend less time on this.)

The Virginia State Tax for Business module was a mess. Wouldn't let me file with a negative number in Form 502PTET Section II line 7, but also wouldn't let me file if I overrode the number with 0
