Support is very unreliable

Turbo tax can't keep up with tax law so constantly red flags items that have to be addressed outside the software.

TurboTax: Too Much Work
on April 1, 2023
Posted by: Bruce1703
from Houston, TX
Ok until 1) Couldn't attach a copy of the brokers 1099 composite even though forms 8949, copies 1 & 2, page 2, include a comment indicating that a brokerage statement is attached. and 2) Couldn't ever get an electronic transmission to work. Ended up printing & mailing the return and attachments. All 35 pages!!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

This was my first year using TurboTax for Business (I have used TurboTax for Individuals for many years). I found it cumbersome and difficult to make corrections.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Final Review not clear what is needs to be correct

Final Review not clear what is needs to be correct. So you are back at doing it manual. What the point of paying for this product if you ended up doing manually and mail it. This is Neary an every year thing. Next year moving on to different product that make more sense

Great experience, great product

I had to do my taxes the last minute, probably as do many people, and turbotax made it easy to purchase it, download it, install it, and walked me through all the steps needed to file federal and state taxes. Very satisfied.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I moved, I bought or sold investments, I had a baby

Once Again QBI form doesn't print to K-1s
on April 2, 2023

In general, Turbotax programmers are lazy and they don not take the time to do a thorough job programming the State portion of the fiduciary K-1s that must be distributed to partners. For last 3 years I have to manually insert and print. I should get a refund for that.

Stil, still, still no import of financial data
on April 2, 2023

I do not understand why import of financial data is so difficult to implement in the business version when it is already part of the regular version. Why can't this be done??????
Also, the MA form does not work well (at all) to transfer the beneficiary percentages to the MA form, which year after year, must be done manually. No one really cares about this product, it seems.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Some bugs in 1041 filing, but it works otherwise
on April 2, 2023
Posted by: NoTimeforTaxBugs
In TurboTax Business, form 1041 for trusts, the program does not compute the section 199A deduction when it it reported on 1099 Div forms. It can be done manually by overriding the program, but that is not documented. There is no such bug in the personal 1040 Turbo Tax
