TurboTax For Business Is Good For Trust Filings

I used TurboTax for my individual tax filings. The Business version is required for Trust filings, even though a simple trust uses very little of the features. It's not quite as easy as using TT Premier in a few ways: 1) you can not import data from investment houses -- you have to enter it manually; 2) My state filing was not available; 3) it took me searching the "forms" to discover how to modify the estimated tax payments for the current year and to adjust how to apportion an overpayment to cover only the first estimated tax payment.

This download made my life so much easier and was well worth the cost, which was considerably less than an accountant would have charged. I used this to file an Estate tax return, which I have never had to file before. The program's questions were clear and easy to answer, and everything was explained. I had a question that was not covered in the Help section, so I used the Contact Us feature to reach a live representative, who was patient and helpful. The finished product looks great.

TurboTax Business support improved but still bugs

While still the best solution for trust filings, there are still errors uncorrected from prior years - Schedule E does not properly aggregate multiple properties. Like Kind exchanges are hidden and once you do an initial run on step by step, you cannot get back to step by step. QBI components are still a mystery.
If TurboTax had a beta program I would volunteer.

Cumbersome and confusing

Cumbersome and confusing. Not 1/10th as easy as Turbo Tax Premier. Why the heck Turbo Tax Business doesn't have the ability to download the info from my broker's website for a Trust 1041 into all the proper forms, like we can do with Premier on a 1040, is beyond me. I spend more time trying to figure out where all the dang numbers go and typing them in than should be necessary. I'm sure an accountant can use it okay, but Turbo Tax is supposed to make this easy and take care of the rest of us.

Horrible Instructions for Balance Sheet errors

Really good program but handling balance sheet errors seems to require an Accoutning MBA to get it to balance. And it won't let you efile with errors.
