Trust Version-not up to snuff

The Trust software did not seem to populate the Form 1116 properly. Three situations where foreign tax paid became 4 columns. Wish they would expand the descriptions. I can't even get the state since not available in software.

Turbo Tax makes it difficult.

I input the number right from my Quickbooks profit/loss report. Then Turbo tax tells me I made $42,000. But according to Quickbooks, I lost $17,000. No explanation for the discrepancy. I figure it has some different definition. So after several hours and an Excell spreadsheet to verify that the input matches QB, I just give up and check the box that it is the same. Then it says there is a discrepancy. I already checked all my numbers. How is there a discrepancy? Turbo tax did all the calculations. It might have been easier to do by hand.

Turbo Tax is good

I am a Trustee for a small trust set up 30 years ago by my parents. It's not big enough to hire a CPA to prepare the tax returns so I use Turbo Tax Business to prepare them. It works well although some things are confusing.

Improve state product - was lacking

Was very disappointed with the state software. Iowa allows E-filing but Turbo would not E-file; had to send in paper copy. Also the preparation of the state return was not very organized by Turbo. Very disappointed.

We have both TurboTax Home & Business and TurboTax Business. I wish you would use a different icon so it would be more easily identified.

TurboTax Business for SNT

I hope my filing is correct. I say this because some conflicts were presented by the software. I am the trustee for the Special Needs Trust (SNT) that must be filed each year by IRS rulings that I believe is atypical because there will not be a tax due or tax refund expected, that is, the income total will always be well below the minimum that is taxable until years in the future. My recommendation is for either or both the IRS and TurboTax to support a simplified process to create/submit this type of filing. For TurboTax ask some early questions to determine and then provide a simple/straightforward method for completing and filing this type of tax.
