Happy with my Partnership filing but...

I really do like the TurboTax experience. I have used the personal Premier and Deluxe products for years. I have recently been starting to use the Business version for my small business to prepare partnership returns. So far so good, but one annoying flaw is that the Business version seems to be unable to file an amended partnership version (which I needed for a small flaw in my original filing). If that would have worked, it would have been 5 stars.

Turbo Tax Business is Great for LLC

Just started a new LLC and had a lot of questions. You definitely need Turbo Tax Business for LLC. Primer or Home and Business will NOT due for an LLC. I was pretty easy. I ran into some snags with some of the question, setting up the LLC for the first time. Call Turbo Tax Assist, and with Joe's help I was back in business. Completed my taxes the same day.

Federal is great but state needs a few fixes

Biggest glitch is that there are not enough spaces in the state return for a trust with a long name. TT treats this as an "error" and will not allow e-filing even though it says I am required to e-file. There are other small issues with state returns as well that leave the impression overall that the software is not tested as thoroughly.

Your TurboTax program for corporate returns continues to be absolutely terrible. First you were exceedingly late getting the Iowa state return out for use. Then it was clear that your default thinking as you have done for years, was to just have a cue asking if there is anything else that is needed. If the user says "no" you race ahead to the worst tax return result any company like you can visit upon a user. The user has to have intimate knowledge of the nuances of corporate tax returns and the law involved to go back, select forms you otherwise skip in your step-by-step to get the correct tax due. An example is the Form 3800. After using your product for a few years now and suffering through your failings, I cannot imagine that there is any corporate income tax program out there that is worse than TurboTax.

NYS IT 205

Filed one Trust with one state. Federal return electronically filed by end of February had to wait for NYS to ok the processing of the IT 205-C. The program is expensive for my needs especially since the state also needs to be purchased separately. Turbo Tax in general takes too long to process the returns. The error messages are frustrating. Basically the return had 4 numbers to input and should have gone through processing. Indicate with error message that NY tax department and Turbo Tax are fixing the problem. This was inferred after various attempts were made to fix the problem.

Turbo Tax Business Trust Return

I had to purchase Turbo Tax Business to file trust returns for my children's trusts. I have never done this before, but I found it pretty easy to use. My only complaint is the tool doesn't allow you to attached the 1099-B detailed transactions when you only enter summary numbers. It says it will, but then never does.
