I had a Char-Broil propane grill, but our new condo property insurance will not allow gas grills on the decks or terrace.
Pros:
Heats evenly on the whole grill surface
Wind does not affect the heating element. Sometimes the wind would blow out the gas flame.
You don’t run out of gas in the middle of cooking. Don’t spend time and money filling up the propane bottle.
Quality construction. Like the two locking wheels. Plenty storage space under the grill. I like the rectangle stainless side plate area to the right of the burner.

Electric grill element takes a much longer time to reach the desired temperature vs. a propane burner. Ex. Outside temp was 95F. It took 10 minutes and 30 seconds to get from 95F to 350F.

I cooked fish one day. Washed the grill grates, then cooked hamburgers the next day. There was a slight fish smell in the burger.

Edge Electric Grill

Cooks nice and evenly. Temperatures are accurate. That part is very much like a gas grill. However, the self clean process does not clean as expected. The grill grates are very hard to clean. I end up scrubbing like crazy with dish soap and water and still they look dirty. The plate under the coils never looks clean even after doing a self clean. Don't know what to do.

It's an electric grill

I recently moved to a condo and only alternative was a camping stove using 1 lb cylinders or go electric; I wanted something that resembled a full-size grill so went with this grill. After assembling I noticed the grates were not flush with warming tray and after further investigation I noticed the support pegs in the back were bent downward - result of overpacking the compartment as I've seen in previous reviews. I live near the ocean so not sure if this will lead to premature corrosion but after already assembling and breaking down the boxes for recycling I elected to just keep it and used a tool to lift the back supports into position so all grates were flush. I have a 15 amp receptacle and haven't had any issues. I have used the grill several times now and it works for me - I haven't tried using wood chips yet. It chars the meat but have only cooked kabobs and hamburgers/hot dogs so far - a steak will be a true test. The grates do stain up; after using the self-clean function and cooled down, I soak them in the sink with Dawn and use the stiff-bristled brush to clean any residual deposits on them.

Excellent food, hard to clean, inconsistent temp

First off, this grill produces EXCELLENT cooked meats and vegetables! However, I was hoping to bake with this, but it is inconsistent at maintaining temperature. The heating element is also so close to where grease falls underneath the grates that it is difficult to clean. While not earning a full 5 stars from me, this is the BEST electric grill for a very reasonable price.

I’ve had this grill for about 20 days, patio set up about 15 days. I’ve grilled 8 of the 15 days. Assembly was fast and easy, and every component was immaculately clean to the touch. The grate design is brilliant: using the juices & fats to vaporize and add a smokiness. And the self clean is amazing. Caution: it WILL throw a good amount of smoke, which means it’s working ideally, cleaning up every bit of goo with good ol’ fi— electricity.
I would recommend this to a friend!
