The best of the Lunar New Year Themed sets
on January 24, 2023
Posted by: LetsGoLego
I have every Chinese/Lunar New Year set Lego has made and this is the very best of them all. The floats are very unique and the Year of the Rabbit theme is so festively conveyed. It was fun for the kids to build and there were enough minifigs to go around for each of them to play with. It's so colorful and looks like a work of art (rabbit could have been a bit better) when displayed. We loved building the set and it will be displayed every Chinese New Year in our house along with some of the other New Year themed sets. Thank you Lego for introducing and continuing these sets each holiday. They are stunning and it's fun to teach and show our children (of all ages) what the cultural significance of these sets are.

Great Sets

Another great pair of Lunar New Year sets. My one complaint is that some of the stickers are printed far to light and are barely visible when applied.
In regards to the many complaints regarding the naming of these sets, they offer no insight into the product itself. Obviously if the naming bothers you that much you have already decided not to purchase these (which is fine).
If you are reading these reviews to help decide if the build experience and end result is good... they are great and I highly recommend the set.

A Great Addition to Lego Chinese New Years Sets
on January 23, 2023

We lived in Hong Kong a long time ago and still try to celebrate Chinese New Years. Lego sets are a fun way to have an activity and to decorate for our celebration. This set looked incredible and I was excited to order it. The set was fun to build- my daughter, a friend and I each took a book and completed one float. While we were building we talked a lot about Chinese history, culture and festivals and enjoyed ourselves. The set contains a lot of very authentic details and the motion elements are fun. I was disappointed that some of the stickers were invisible once you placed them onto the correct pieces- the gold designs can't be seen at all against the red Lego piece. It's also disappointing that the lavish decorations on the floats fall off so easily when you push the floats to see the motion elements. There's no good way to move a float unless you hold it and when you do, bits drop off. So more a set to look at and admire than to play with. I don't understand all the comments complaining about Lego using the term Lunar New Years. The box and the instruction books have Chinese Festival Special Edition in several places in a special gold seal. The holiday is celebrated in many Asian countries and even around the world now. The set does depict how Chinese people celebrate and decorate but the holiday itself is not exclusively a Chinese one. The set was a fun build and I can't wait to see what they will do next year.

Not as fun as expected

Woke up early on launch day to get the set, started building right away. Turns out it’s just been an average build. You do get a lot of Minifigures, which is great! But somehow I felt a bit bored putting this together. The rabbit and dragon looks too blocky, lacking details. Could be better!

Wonderful set that shows off Chinese culture
on January 14, 2023

This is a wonderful set with lots of cool elements and a unique design idea. Also includes a lot of mini figures--including an all purple space man! The set also looks beautiful.
For those complaining that the set-series name is suppressing Chinese culture, the box clearly has on the front (and can be seen in the picture) a gold medallion that says, "Chinese Festival Special Edition." There is no nefarious suppression of culture in this set; the whole series is Chinese named.

This is full of the Chinese New Year Elements

Chinese new year is using unique lunisolar calendar. If lego calls this is a lunar new year set , lego should celebrate and release this set in july 2023. Our kids could learn different cultures of this world by lego, this is the reason i keep buying legos for my son. But We ( adults) should face up the real history and origin of culture. Every Chinese welcome everyone and every country would like to celebrate Chinese New Year with us. But Please respect us First. We celebrate Chinese New Year just like you celebrate Christmas!
