Fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This box of two different McLaren cars was a lot of fun to build. Each came with a separate book of instructions and all of the pieces were grouped together for each car. The cars took me a little less than an hour to build per car, the instructions were easy to follow. My kids really liked that the cars could actually roll once they were put together.

Nice cars, but do not stay together well.

I have built a lot of Speed Champions sets since the theme first was introduced. Most have been enjoyable builds and fun to play with. But as far as the cars in this set are concerned, the pieces did not hold together well during the building process. Also, the pieces fall off easily with just the gentlest of handling. I am a little disappointed in this set.

Could do without the Solus
on December 19, 2023

I could have done without the Solus. The F1 is a fun and beautiful build. Love the color, the lines, and the build process. The Solus was a pretty neat build process, but it is one of the less appealing cars. The Solus just feels bulky and kind of plain. I own all previous Speed Champion builds, and the Solus is definitely in my bottom 3, while the F1 is in my top 3. Pretty strange combo. Anyways, I'd recommend it just for the F1 alone. The Solus unfortunately, I was not impressed with at all, it's just ugly.

Horrible!

I have to say I'm surprised with number of good reviews this set has received. While the Solus GT went together easily enough, the F1 did not. The front end doesn't fit properly. I dismantled and rebuilt it four times trying to get it to fit, it just didn't want together. If fell to pieces at every attempt. Finally I decided to add a single orange block to each side, steps 94-95. This was the only way I could get the front end together. I shouldn't have to modify a kit in order to make it work. Very disappointed!

Nice set

Overall this set was fun to build. Out of the 2 cars the McLaren is definitely my favorite. The other car does nothing for me, and should have been replaced with a more luxurious sports car. The second car is the 2nd car in my inventory that didn't use the center black lego piece in which to build the car. Most cars in the Speed Champions series the cars use the center piece to build the car around it. The 2nd car doesn't, you build the car and the suspension using lego pieces to build the car. Both sets come with a small set of stickers and those need to be put on using Windex and hobby tweezers because some of the stickers are very small. Enjoy the build.

I hate the F1

This review will only be talking about the F1 car because it's the only one I have touched so far. This will also be the first review I write in anger, as of a few minutes ago I gave up trying to put that darn thing together. Most of the pieces on the outside are holding on by only a couple of studs so if you put ANY pressure on the build (which you will need to do to get some of the more stubborn pieces on) they pop off and fly away at mach five. by far the worst offender is the big white piece that is angled so you could fit the wheel in, it pops off with even the slightest push. and to make matters worse I can get it back on for the life of me. I give up, it's not worth it. Maybe the other car is good, I don't know or really care at this point.
