I have had many a keyboard in my life. I can say this is one where you can actually feel the quality as soon as you take it out of the box. The key action is excellent with good spacing and a tactical feel. Attention to detail even applies to the cord sheath which allows it to lay flat and straight versus plastic covered cords which always have that wrapped up memory. Lastly the lighting effects are a plus. On the downside, this is pricey so I have high expectations for its longevity.

Faulty volume roller. I was trying to use the volume roller to turn my volume down, but it's not going down. It's going up instead. Other than this issue, keyboard is fine.

If the volume roller is not working properly, please check if the PC meets the system requirements of the keyboard. If it does, please update the chipset driver and use the Armoury Crate utility software to customize the keyboard. The ROG Strix Flare II Animate mechanical keyboard is almost perfect for me. Besides being a full scale keyboard, my favorite format, the additional functions available are laid out exactly where they should be. With a mouse in my right hand, the media controls are readily available by my left hand. It makes for a natural feel while gaming or consuming media.
The mechanical switches that came installed in the keyboard functioned flawlessly. However, they weren't to my liking. But, this keyboard comes with the tools to pull the key caps and switches so you can install whatever switches that suit you. I've installed some excellent switches from Gateron, no issues at all. The removal of the original switches and installation of the new switches was very easy with the included tools, and the new switches function perfectly in the keyboard.
Finally, the lighting and Animatrix feature. I am controlling the lighting via the Asus Armory Crate software. It is a very user friendly software. The total suite of tools and interface tools are sufficient for handling whatever fun things you want to do with the lights. As for the Animatrix feature, it is so very capable. Asus has a huge host of animations you can download. The ONE thing I'd love to have, that isn't present. I would like to have more options for system monitor readouts. CPU temp, FPS, and all that. I'm currently just using the AMF Adrenaline software overlay (the little overlay in the upper right corner that you switch on and off with CTRL+SHIFT+O) and it works fine. So for now, since it's convenient, I just leave the time visible.
If you like a full size keyboard, mechanical switches, and all the customizing you can handle, then pick up this keyboard. It IS worth the money.
