It seems like it would even protect the sides of the mattress. Line drying is the only negative.

I have only had it a few weeks so... hard to say. I prefer to use one made for the mattress and given the size and things it does and the 100 day trial I think the price is very fair. But as for how well it protects or holds up, I can't yet say... My only complaint so far is that it is a pain to get it dry. Beyond that, I just don't have enough data.

it feels pretty bulky and warm, but mainly a bit too large for the mattress so it keeps moving and tagging and doesn't stay firmly in place

I really love the mattres not having any problems so far my first foam mattress and I believe it is comfortable for me had to get use to the firmness but overall great.

There is no reasonable method in which to determine which liquids will be within spilling distance of a mattress on any given night. Don't get caught with your pants down.
