The bed frame is very low and needs slats to hold the bed or a box spring as an alternative. A box spring would need at least two slats per section.

Don't get the metal base if you have a toddler

Its easy for 1 person to assemble but as indicated in the product specs and some reviews, the metal base is larger than the foundation box (and smaller than a twin mattress). Twice within the first week, our 4 year old has bumped her leg into the metal base since the mattress & foundation can shift quite easily within the base. Falling out of bed could result in serious harm. For this reason we would not buy this again. Why they don't make the metal base and foundation fit is beyond me.

Super light and easy to setup. The box spring is a different size from the metal base, which is a different size than the mattress. It also shifts very easily on the luxury vinyl plank flooring. Will use it until we get an actual bed frame.
