It is a good concept and the height of the metal base is nice. However, the mattress does not stay in place and often slips off the unsecured metal base resulting in the mattress giving sinking under you. Also, if you put too much pressure in any of the areas where the metal bar isn't, the mattress sinks below the frame.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
