It provides some added softness on top of the firm mattress, which helps immensely with my post-surgical pain. It does have a tendency to retain heat though.

The customer service was amazing, and the mattress was very easy to unbox and arrived quickly. So far it is nice and comfortable especially with the complimentary topper that was sent when I needed little bit more softness.
