First in reference to how firm. It runs about an 8 out of 10. But note the feel is so different than a normal mattress, for the better.
Second i wouldn't call it a cooling mattress, more of a normal temp mattress. Its not hot and its not cold.

It wasn't quite as soft as I was hoping as a side sleeper. Product was of good quality, however. It was exceptional with regards to temperature control/cooling. The purchase and return could not have been easier.

This is the best mattress yet! I'm still a bit warm, but I believe it's due to the protective mattress cover I put on before the sheet. My pets sleep on the bed as well, and sometimes they have accidents. I'd like have a roll-out pad that I slip under the sheet, that gets frozen, but there would be a lot of condensation.
