[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone who own several high-end laptops and custom-built desktops, I was looking to purchase something for causal light use around the house. Six months ago, I made that purchase and selected the Lenovo Idea Pad as the perfect candidate for that use.
I eventually decided to look for something equally as light for office use that offered more mobility than my laptop workstation. I decided to go with Lenovo again, and selected the Think Book this time around.
Pros:
Build quality
List of features ( usb-c , thunderbolt, 10 key, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard)
Price
Form factor
Aesthetics
Cons:
Speaker quality
Microphone quality
Overall this laptop is excellent. It comes in a fairly compact form-factor given its size. The display is excellent, with minimal bezel profile. The aesthetics are fantastic, soft to the touch, while offering a striking bold look. The two-tone top cover gives the impression of a laptop that is in a higher end category than it is. This is a laptop that will look good both around the house as well as the coffee shop or on the office desk.
Performance wise, this machine is good. I have a heavy laptop workstation and wanted something that offered excellent mobility without all of the weight. Although this does not have dedicated graphics, the 12th gen i5 CPU offers tons of power for office and school type use.
There was slight evidence of thermal throttling under heavy use even in performance mode, preventing the CPU from reaching top turbo clock rate. This should not be an issue for most people, as this laptop is not intended to stay in the top range of turbo boost. The CPU still has plenty of performance given the minimal power use and mobility that it offers. When in balance mode, this laptop can run 4-5 hours without issue, but it is something that could be improved upon with a larger battery pack.
The list of features is excellent. The laptop has plenty of USB-A and USB-C ports, including Thunderbolt. It connects to my Wavelink docking station without issues. The laptop can charge itself and output video to two of my 4k Dell displays without any issues. The backlit keyboard is fantastic, perfect for prolonged use. On the go, the laptop can easily be charged using any GaN charger (65w+), should you leave the bundled charger behind.
The touchpad is nice and tactile offering a good set of customization features through the bundled Lenovo software. The built-in ten key is a life-saver, especially for occasional office use. The laptop does come with a fingerprint reader that is cleverly integrated in the power button. It is a nice feature to have, especially for those users of Windows Hello.
The one area where this laptop did disappoint is with the bundled microphone and camera. My cheaper Lenovo Idea Pad has a far superior microphone and camera package than this Think Book, which is somewhat puzzling considering that this is a higher-end product geared more towards office/ web conference use. The speakers are much smaller than the Idea Pad and for some strange reason are positioned in a down-firing configuration. This leaves a very tin like, and muffled sound performance that is extremely poor.
Even though this won't be used for listening to music, it is something that I do use for web meetings. When not using earbuds, it would be nice to have a reliable set of speakers that offer decent performance. Unfortunately, this Think Book falls far from that level of expectation and was very disappointing in that aspect. To make things worse the microphone performance is just as lousy. I did several tests in Audacity, and when compared to the Idea Pad, the performance of this microphone doesn't even come close.
Sound pickup is extremely poor, especially considering that the Idea Pad can pickup clear sound at a normal volume and distance away from the speaker. If your main purpose is to buy a laptop that would be good fit for web meetings without earbuds/headset, look further as this will be extremely disappointing otherwise.
Overall, this laptop is fantastic. It offers a ton of great features and performance for the price. The battery life is descent, although I would like for Lenovo to include a slightly larger pack as there is definitely room for that. If your primary purpose is to have an excellent performing machine for office/ school use without all the bulk, this is an excellent candidate. It is an excellent built machine that offers a ton of value considering the price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only had it a few weeks, but it works as I expected which is great. Haven't had any issues yet.
The laptop is a little heavier than I expected, but I'm sure it weighs what the site says it does. It does have a bigger screen and footprint, than smaller models so probably my fault to not expect this. Just feels a little heavier in my backpack than I had hoped.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very happy with this machine, for my typical home use case. It is lightweight, touch screen, very clear picture, smooth operation. No complaints. It is not the highest horsepower machine out there but for the price it's pretty dang good and I'm playing Civilization 6 on it without trouble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] College Student Perspective: It's not going to win awards or blow someone away but it does what it needs and the quality is decent. The speakers leave something to be desired so i suggest a pair of headphones. The IO is excellent, except for the fact that the only usb-c (and therefore charging) is on the left hand side, making it awkward to charge from an outlet to your right. I paid 850 for this and that feels right. I would not buy at full price.
