Well designed.....everything works the way it's supposed to. Set-up/take-down < 1 min. including 20 lb tank attachment. Pre-heat to 400* in 5 min. on high. Maintains 400* @ 40-50%. Flare-ups rare. 10-12 burgers at a time, medium in 5 min. Red cover gets very hot! Stone cold in 10 min.

Nice Grill - Terrible Gas Flow Control Knobs

I purchased a TravelQ 285X grill about 3 years ago. The grill is fine for my wife and I, however it has an extremely weak point. I probably use this grill perhaps 10 times a year and both of the gas control knobs have broken more than once. I have replaced two of them and I now have another broken one. There is a weak point in the knobs where they push onto the metal gas control shaft. Inside the knob is a thin metal tab and, where this tab is inserted into the plastic surround, the plastic is perhaps only 1/16th of an inch thick. Normally there is very little mechanical load of this knob because it easily turns to control the gas flow, however this knob, when pushed in, is also used to initially ignite the gas and this amount of load on 1/16th inch of plastic causes it to break after very little usage. So, in my opinion, if you purchase one of these grills, be prepared to order new gas flow control/igniter knobs about once a year.

I have had a few portable BBQ's, this by far is the best I've ever owned or tried. The results are incredible. The cast iron grill gives amazing results. The sear i was able to obtain on my steak and veggies and perfectly cooked!, The griddle is awesome! i have used a griddle on a BBQ, I own one that you place on top of the grill, in this setup where you replaced one side of the grill with the griddle, it intensifies the heat and it just cooks everything better! The scissor cart makes this a delight to bring out to your vehicle to load and when you get to your destination, it is easily transported to your picnic or camping spot! If you were thinking about this grill, don't wait any longer!

Absolute trash

Absolutely THE worst BBQ I ever owned. After listening to the reviews and people telling me how great of a grill this is, I decided to spend the money. This evening it took 45 mins with the bbq on high to even reach 200
Even with the slightest of a breeze it would blow out constantly needing to be relit after 1hour and 45 mins of trying to grill hamburger patties I gave up.
Absolute trash. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Bad regulator

I bought this bbq 3 years ago. It worked fine for 2 years then it did not heat. I brought it to the local service point in Sherbrooke. First, they said they clean it but still did not work. Now, it has been more than a month to get a regulator!
This is the first time I hear about "regulators" and the last time I buy a supposedly good bbq.

I have had this BBQ about a month. It is lightweight, attractive and starts up with the click of a knob. I like the 2 burners and the temp gauge. This unit heats up quickly.

Perfect Size

I bought the Travel Q 285X about a month ago and have pretty much used it every day. Been using Napoleon for years and wasn’t sure about how the smaller size would be but perfect size for my small townhouse backyard and folds away and stores easily. Also has plenty of surface space to cook for a few people. Have taken to the beach and camping already. The wheels make it so easy for travel.

Love this BBQ

Our condo finally allowed residents to use BBQ's, but with propane tank size restrictions. We bought this BBQ for 2 reasons. Dual burners and a griddle. We were surprised that the 285X was so efficient. That really helps when using only a 5 lb propane tank. Our colour choice, red, makes our neighbours envious. It easily folds up for storage.
