[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Controls would've been better placed on the side instead of in front. It's awkward reaching over to tend to things cooking on the large burner.

Excellent replacement for my previous GE stovetop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very pleased with my GE electric stovetop this far. I replaced a similar older model that also worked great, but i broke the glass! This model with a metal outer frame looks great and will hopefully hold up better, though I promised it I will not use a meat mallet anywhere close to it ever again!

Replace GE Profile Cooktop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the JEP5030STSS as a replacement for a 20 years old GE profile that it would cost too much to repair. This one has the five burner which I liked. I also like how the large burner is in the middle so all the steam from cooking get exhaust with the fan above it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I replaced a 6 year GE Profile cooktop with this one since it was he only one I could find that fit the hole in my granite countertop. That one suffered the same as this one in that the "Power Boil" dual element burner stopped working. That on lasted about 3-4 years and I replaced it once but it stopped again after a year or so. Then another burner stopped working so we decided to replace the whole unit with this new one. Unfortunately, GE appliances aren't very reliable and the same "Power Boil" burner stopped working whilst I was making Christmas dinner. The unit is only 2 months old. The "Hot" light also was bad, staying on all the time and that happened after a week or two. Now I'm faced with the circle fight for getting it repaired which will likely be more inconvenient than if it had burned down my house.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
