Mixed bag

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Grinds finer than Gen1… thanks!! Initially noticed big reduction of mess. First days anti-static worked a treat, but now more messy than Gen 1. Could something have failed or disconnected to cause the anti-static mechanism/system to malfunction? Retains more than Gen 1.
2nd issue is the hopper lid isn’t flat. It doesn’t fit as snugly… Hoping time and gravity will eventually flatten it… but maybe this is a known defect?
3rd is the adjustment dial rattles. It has more play in the axial direction. Grinder is so much quieter than Gen1 but this rattle is kinda annoying. I’ve taken apart but cannot find what is causing this
4th issue is the catch bin isn’t as solid as GEn 1. After pouring out the ground coffee into filter, I tap the catch bin against my palm to settle and gather the remaining few grams of grounds… the Gen2 catch bin rattles and rings; Gen1 felt like a solid object that would last for years. In my workflow, I’m not tapping the bin against anything sold, just the palm of my hand. Besides being a bit thinner walled than the Gen 1 bin, the issue is that one of the two fins isn’t attached as well, so it resonates and rattles. Perhaps this is an inconsistency of manufacturing

A very consistent grinder

This is a very consistent grinder. There aren't a lot of fines or boulders. That said, I have several minor gripes. It's not the quietest grinder I've ever owned. I find the noise level to be in the middle of the range. Thankfully, it's very fast. I found that the grind recommendations are off. They aren't guidelines, they're fantasy. For electric drip, they recommend grind levels 7-9. I'm using level 3 or less. I'm still getting a handle on the flavors of the grind. It doesn't quite bring out the body and sweetness as much as I had hoped, or as much as my previous grinder did. I'm a bit disappointed in that.
The anti-static feature is a HUGE plus, earning an extra star for that alone.

Only thing I would suggest- find way to grind between current grind stops as would be nice to have infinite grind settings rather than fixed ration as in present machine

It grinds finely and works well as promised. The only area I was a bit disappointed was the level of noise it generated as the Ode Brew Grinder was described as one of the quietest grinders on the market.

Beautiful, efficient, performance driven, game changing grinder

It has it all! Was blown away by the quality of this grinder at an aesthetic level, as well as the level of performance. It's totally changed the quality of my everyday coffee, and produces professionally even and consistent grinds. The settings are easy to dial and experiment with, and have given me some of the best cups I've ever had. I used to have a conical burr grinder and would experience carpal-tunnel inducing minutes of hand-grinding every day. And having to guesstimate the same settings every time I wanted a different size was beyond annoying. Now I can drink a perfect cup of french press, pour-over, or moka pot coffee in the same day if I want! Lastly, it's very quiet and quick with what it does, and the improvements with gen 2 design are excellent - it makes no messes and never jams. All in all, a very satisfied customer - you will be too.
