Not a reliable machine. Two defective kettles in a row.

Our first unit had an issue with the button sticking as well as the wooden knob cracking. Customer service was helpful (via Blue Bottle) and sent us a new one. Our second unit worked well except the wooden knob began cracking within a few months and then completely detached. Perhaps I could have oiled the knob more regularly but I did occasionally oil it and I shouldn't have to baby a kettle knob. The kettle is still usable but we have to be very particular in the way we lift the lid to keep the knob from lifting off and it often lifts off anyway. Recently (after about a year of using daily) it started to sometimes boil over even when it is not filled over the max line. Other than the knob being broken and it boiling over often it works fine... for the price that isn't saying much. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this kettle and I definitely would opt out of the wooden knob even though it is aesthetically attractive. Hopefully they've improved the design since our purchase (2021). We are going to back to a stove top kettle.

Beautiful but smells toxic

Beautiful. High-performance. And sadly, when heated, the plastic base and bottom of the kettle give off a toxic chemical odor we can smell across the room. Fellow said it should go away after a few weeks. They wouldn’t tell us if the plastic is free if the most dangerous chemicals like BPA. Sending it back.

Love It, but disappointed by rust
on May 16, 2025

We love our Fellow Stagg. It heats up quickly, is incredibly easy to use, and looks beautiful on the counter. It’s a joy to use every day. Unfortunately, we’ve noticed some rust developing inside, which is disappointing. Also, when boiling water to 100°C, it tends to overflow for some reason.

Kettle randomly does not boil
on February 27, 2025

My kettle sometimes boils and sometimes doesn’t boil (?!). I purchased a week ago. When I press the button to start boiling, the desired temperature and the current temperature apprar on the screen, except current temperature doesn’t go up. Checked that the lid was correctly on, water was in, everything. I would pick up my kettle and put it back at a slightly different angle, and multiple tries of that would do the trick.

Prices go up - Quality goes down. A lesson in Capitalism.

This is my third EKG so I have a unique perspective. The first one we got we loved but it died prematurely which was a big let down considering how expensive they are. I was impressed that Fellow was quick to send us out a free replacement which has been faithfully doing daily work for us for some time. When it was time to get a kettle for work I was set on relegating our well loved EKG to work and get a fresh new one for my counter. When the new one arrived my wife was quick to point out how much cheaper they look now. Both the base and the kettle itself are significantly cheaper which is why we opted to keep our well loved kettle in the kitchen and send the new one to work. The main areas of concern we had are 1) The wood handle is no longer wood. It’s a fake wood and it feels cheap to the touch. 2) the kettle does not sit firmly on the base. It’s not that it’s super loose and going to tip or anything, but the base no longer has a rubbery indentation to cradle the kettle. It just sits on flat plastic where it becomes apparent that tolerances are loose. It’s a shame that fellow has built a brand on nice aesthetics and high quality and slowly raised prices and dropped quality. It feels more and more like a Target brand than something premium. This could well be the last Fellow product we purchase. However, the old school EKG on my kitchen counter will not be going anywhere for now. Thanks!

Not a wood handle..

The handle is advertised as wooden. In reality it looks like plastic with “wood design on it” which cheapens the whole look of the kettle. Everything else seemed top notch. This one was returned, ordered the Studio version instead, hoping for better quality there.
