After doing lots of research, I settled on the Igloo BMX 52qt cooler, and it did not let me down. Went camping for 4 days and the cooler kept the majority of 3 bags of ice frozen. It was 1/2 the price of a Yeti, but basically did the same job. Very impressed with this cooler. Thanks Igloo.

Bought this cooler specifically for tubing on The Guadalupe River in Texas. It is the perfect size for the tubes. We spent 8 hours on the river in 100 degree temps. It's now two o'clock in the afternoon the next day back home in Houston and I still have about a third of the ice I started out with the prior day on the river. I'd say that would be a giant success! I am impressed with the outstanding performance of the BMX 52. Remember, if you don't want to give away all your beer and water on the river... don't forget to bungee cord the lid of your cooler because it will flip on you...eventually. Just a fact. Survived a Black Bear Attack!

We shopped around for a durable, long lasting cooler for awhile. We seriously considered going with a much more expensive competitor cooler but ultimately decided on the BMX 52 Qt. Cooler. Our beautiful blue girl came in Monday and we were off to the mountains that same Thursday to camp. We packed her full of marinating chicken, lunchmeat, sausages, veggies, beer and multiple bags of ice to keep everything nice and cold. Saturday night as we were sitting by our neighbors fire and we hear rustling on our site. Come to find out a 300lb black bear was dragging our Igloo cooler into the woods! Immediately I thought our food was gone, no way he wasn't tearing open that cooler. She's definitely got some teeth marks and claw marks now, but the latch closures were so tight and sturdy it was no match for this bear! We were there for two more days, and even with teeth punctures on the top, all of our food stayed ice cold!
Bravo, Igloo! So durable and so well built that a 300lb black bear was no match! I will show off my new "decorated" cooler whenever I can and will forever recommend Igloo to everyone!

Not built to last long.

I wouldn't recommend this cooler. It is marketed as a long lasting cooler. However, the hinges are screwed into the soft plastic lid. This cooler will not last long. I bought this thinking it was going to be strong and I am sadly disappointed. Currently working with warranty on the next steps.

Great product with some minor concerns.

I received as a birthday gift and use it probably twice a month for weekend camping trips and around the pool. Overall I like the size and capacity of the cooler. Ice retention is really based on several factors, but overall it retains ice well and keeps things cold. My two concerns are the rubber latches and plastic hinges. Like I said I got this in March of 2021 as a gift and one of the rubber latches snapped in half. The hinges are plastic so I am sure, based on past experiences with igloo coolers they will probably brake at some point. I have submitted a warranty request for the broken latch, we will see how that goes (could change my review)? Overall I am happy with the cooler I just wish they would have made the hinges out of stainless for longevity.
