Great Coffee, but like a high maintenance friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I understand that this product is sold worldwide but the instructions could have been a bit more clear. The unit sets up pretty easily and after the break in, makes great cappuccinos and straight coffees. I prefer to use distilled water for a cleaner taste although the instructions recommend using tap water with a purchasable (not included) filter. The unit provides, so far, consistently good tasting coffees and I understand the need for it's self washout after each one. This consumes water that collects in the drip tray even though I use a small cup to catch the dispenser flow. I like that the unit has a puck cleanout alert, because I make a lot of multi shot coffees and cappuccinos and don't want the spent puck cup to overflow. The water reservoir is large and easy to see the level and refill. There is easy access to the Brew Group and it cleans out fairly easy. I do it once a week and hand wash it and the drip tray also. The milk frother works wonders and is easy to clean and creates excellent milk foam. During the weekly Brew group cleaning, I go over the interior of the machine with damp paper towels to get the accumulated grinds and have a fresh area inside. If you use ground coffee, don't forget to clean out the ground coffee port with a damp paper towel pushed through with the measuring scoop tip. Be careful when emptying the drip tray, the waste water could easily spill and make a mess. Don't wait for the warning light to appear, empty every other day to avoid an accident. Overall, I have sidelined my Nespresso and now the Philips is the primary coffee machine. It has already paid for itself in not having to go to a shop and hope that their product turns out as you wanted. We look forward to using beans to evaluate the ceramic grinder, but am confident that it will please also.

Excellent all-in-one!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent all-in-one expresso machine. It came packaged very well, easy to clean & is self cleaning. It has an adjusting dispenser for different size cups & you can adjust the coffee strength. Machine includes the ability to make expresso, regular coffee, hot water & has a frother. You have the ability to use ground coffee or whole beans. It also pulls 2 shots at once. For all that it does, it is surprising compact on the counter. There is a learning curve, especially if you have no experience with an expresso machine but didn’t take too long to overcome. The only negatives for me were the awkwardly small size of the ground coffee hole. This could definitely be larger. Also, for the steep retail price of this machine I think the water filter should be included. However, this machine does keep you from needing multiple machines so it’s certainly worth considering.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the machine but struggle to figure out all the ins and outs of using the machines. The manual was not as helpful as I was hoping. I also don't like having to buy the filter separately at least with the initial purchase of the machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned three Saeco machines and enjoyed them but they eventually had issues that I could not resolve. I liked Philips involvement in those machines. Now Philips has created one similar to my last Saeco and the price was right, through Seattle Coffee Gear. I understand this machine due to similarities with the Saeco models and the price was about same as my last purchased Saeco seven years ago. I appreciate Philips embracing the best features and adding new improved features that make it easier to maintain. I have enjoyed having morning lattes again! My only issue is the installation of the classic milk frothier when purging points a little over the edge of the drip tray and without looking it may spray water on the counter. I keep a towel under it just in case. All in all the new components are easier to clean after use and I love the comparable low price for a better product. Thank you Philips.
