Urban Cycling Commuter Approved

I've got to be honest, I was a little disappointed when my specific phone model (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+) wasn't going to have a phone case made by Peak Design. I didn't have a lot of confidence in the adhesive backed Universal Adapter, especially with such a large/heavy phone, but boy, was I wrong.
I made sure I followed the installation instructions very carefully & after few months of use, I can confidently say that this mount is ROCK-SOLID.
As an urban cycling commuter & avid cyclist in Los Angeles, I've primarily used this on my daily commutes & recreational rides on a minimum of 100 miles a week (sometimes more). I've even threw it on my gravel bike for a little off-road fun. This has stayed secure with no problems in conjunction with the Out-Front Bike Mount. Not only has it stayed secure, but I've even went to lengths to see how far I could push it's durability. Though I don't recommend it, I've literally picked up my entire bike by just my phone using just the Universal Adapter & Out-Front Bike Mount (that's roughly around 20lbs).
Besides the durability, the Universal Adapter is just insanely slim, lightweight, & convenient to use. As a photographer & content creator, I'm constantly connecting & disconnecting my phone while riding to capture my adventures. I don't even have to look or wonder if my phone has connected, it just simply connects & works. Added benefit: sometimes when I need to go hands-free & I have a magnetic metal surface around me (like my fridge), the magnets are actually strong enough that the phone will stick to the surface. That's fairly impressive given my phone's size & weight. I wish more phone accessories were THIS well thought-out & designed.
Kudos to Peak Design for nailing yet another product! I'm sorry I ever doubted you & I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Wicked-strong adhesive, wicked strong connection

My biggest praise for this adapter: It works one hundred percent as well as the full-on phone case. You don't feel like a second-class citizen just because you don't have one of the three phones for which PD makes a case. This lil' dude sticks strong and attaches completely solid to all the other mounts and doo-dads in the Mobile ecosystem.
The adapter takes up virtually no space on the back of your phone – I didn't notice a difference in thickness at all. PD didn't cheap out on the adhesive (authentic 3M VHB), and I have absolutely zero concerns about this thing coming unstuck. Follow the prep steps carefully, use the provided alignment tool, and you'll be golden.

Great addition to my case!

This review is for the Universal Adapter on an Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max with the Caudabe Sheath case.
Highlights:
- Super slim! Almost NO bulk added to my case
- Magnetization works great with my PD car mount
- Magnetization works great with my PD car mount
Areas of opportunity / Points to note:
- I wish this adapter was reusable if I want to upgrade my iPhone in the future. Item notes state, "This adapter is not intended to be reused." So just a word of caution if you upgrade your phone often. If the adapter was at a lower price point, I wouldn't mind the replacement cost (but I suppose I must since I have the car mount!) Since this is a one-time use item, I'd love if PD can create a recycling program, so that these items don't go in the landfill once its lifecycle is up.
- Item notes also do not recommend "Porous, textured or soft-touch coated cases". The Caudabe Sheath case has a lightly textured surface (see photo), but the adapter's 3M adhesion seems pretty solid. I guess I'll have to see how it holds up over time.

Best case I ever had

I had this phone for some time. Its rugged so dropping it to the ground does not matter much. It has keyboard so it is comfortable to write. But its heavy (>300g) and quite bulky so there are no sensible cases for that (not that they would be needed). It is also too large to fit for example the PD Tripod phone holder. I was waiting for this adapter to test it for too long and I can confirm it is awesome. The magnets hold this heavy beast anywhere I need, regardless it is the official car/bike/tripod/capture mount or metal door frame.

The Best

I used to use Quad Lock to attach my phone to my bike, but I always took the case off after rides due to how bloody thick it is. Also, I could never manage to attach the thing with a single hand (or on my first attempt).
This PD adapter changes everything: First, it’s so thin I never feel the need to take my case off. Second, It’s so easy to attach, I literally only have to put my phone there and bam! (Detaching it has also been pretty simple but details on that will be on my Bike Lock review) Third, it looks pretty darn cool.
I never cycle far without my phone (read, slave to navigation) and PD accessories made the whole experience much more enjoyable.

Lightweight, secure, great system

I've been using a Universal Adapter on a slim case for a while. The adhesion to my case is bulletproof. It's very lightweight, and I love the texture of the fabric. The magnets are ridiculously strong, to the point where I'm frequently mounting my phone to my microwave or my refrigerator while I'm cooking in the kitchen. And it works great with the Out-Front Bike Mount.
The only thing I'd say is make sure your case fits tightly on your phone. The secure mount of the Universal Adapter doesn't help you much if your phone slips out of its case!
The Peak Design system is so much better than competitors' bike mounts I've used in the past, and I can't wait to get additional accessories to use it with.

Great Product

I funded the universal adapter and mobile tripod on kickstarter. Finally got them, tested them, and they work great. So slim! I ordered more adapters for different cases and future phones.

This is thinner than I expected it would be, and I'm glad they made it. I can still use my moment case with it or whatever other case. I love the peak design system so this is great
