Awesome little tripod!

I picked this up mostly to hold my phone in a good position next to my sink so when I'm washing dishes or cooking I can watch programs. It really excels in those moments. Additionally I have used it on a couple occasions with photography and it works really well. After tightening down the ball joint a bit it holds my large Samsung S23 Ultra with zero problems, even when pushed beyond vertical.
The only reason I don't give it 5/5 is that when used with the S23 Ultra the super powerful magnets make the s-pen not work. This might not be possible to solve by Peak Design, though they did fix the issue in the S23 Ultra case, so I don't really know.

Tripodosaurus Rad

This tripod does everything, it made me a nice omelet this morning, not like a sloppy Denver omelet, but one of those light creamy french ones. It mates with my Peak phone case like an 80's undercover Miami PD crime drama television series duo. I feel strangers observing its supreme functionality and pondering why their life choices have led them to a phone void of the Tripodosaurus. The Tripodosaurus emerges out of the boiler room of your phone with the elegance of a spaceship landing on a planet that might offer the natural resources to save mankind, or might be an awful mistake because of the really mean spirited aliens that live there, but either way, the landing of the spaceship is flawless and structurally stable. Once on the mystery planet you can watch your programs in landscape or portrait and not worry about anything sliding around as the Tripodosaurus has little sticky, yet fashionable, booties on its feet. The T Rad has a tiny tool embedded in its gut that allows on the move tweaking of its rigidity ecosystem, however, I have not seen the need to do so as of yet, but geez I wanna take that thing outta there, it's magical looking, like the tiny sword of a tiny Conan the Barbarian. The T Rad will make your dreams come true. But if we all had one, then mine would be less cool, and that's not appealing to me, so live your life I guess is the the ultimate take away here, I'm just a guy that crushes life in every aspect, except soccer, I'm not good at soccer.

Best accessory ever

Got this a couple weeks ago and it's been on my phone every since. From using it as a tripod to take photos that I would not normally be able to take, to taking videos, to using it during Zoom calls at work. One surprising feature that I didn't know about was that the tripod itself is magnetic so I didn't not have to take it off when using it with my car mount. It also does not take much space so having it on the phone doesn't take much space or bulk.

Great for everyday use

Yes, this will add some weight and bulk to your phone if you use it everyday, which I don't mind. It's very useful when you want to take photos if there are no one else around to take a photo for you, or if you're at your desk and want the phone to stand upright.
Only issue I have with this tripod is that the rubber tip of the stand will eventually break off after some wear and tear, and the black paint on the legs will come off as well.

Digital Nomad's go-to

Recently purchased the mobile tripod to test out on with an Apple magsafe phone case. Attaches quickly and smoothly. For being so light it's quite hearty, and the quality of construction and chosen materials is apparent. Bought the universal adapter to use with an ipad mini as well, and so far, it's excellent for this purpose as well.

Include wrench is the wrong size for the leg bolts
on November 26, 2025

I’ve had this tripod for a year or two at this point and am overall very happy with it. It’s clever and useful. My complaint is that while PD went through the trouble of using a tiny Allen key to adjust the tension on the main ball joint, the Allen bolts on the legs are a different size, so the included tool doesn’t work to tighten the legs when they become loose, which mine have.

Magnet could be better
on December 10, 2025

I bought this mobile tripod along side the GNAR case when the iPhone 17 launched. I normally have the standard case with the stand wallet (which are brilliant together) but wanted to try something abit different this time around. My main issue with it is the magsafe magnet strength, the tripod only has one magnet at the top vs the stand wallet at the top and bottom so has a much stronger hold. Everytime i go to take the legs out or rotate to landscape the tripod falls off, it will often fall off in my pocket as well. I have the Pro Max + the GNAR case making the phone fairly heavy to be fair. Back to the old combo or me! The mobile tripod is a great idea in concept but hasn't really worked for me that well - an expensive experiment!

Loved it but...

The build quality is excellent, but attaching the mount to the phone needs work. I had this mount on my phone for less than one day, and the stand fell off my phone and is now lost somewhere in Canada. It hurts to lose an already expensive phone mount on the same day I put it on my phone. @PeakDesign, why didn't you add a universal mount to the bipod to click into the phone vs a magnet? I own many great PD products, but this one needs work. I wish there were something I could do, but it's gone.
