A Totally Groovy Superstar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I are in awe of this doll. From her bright pink boa to her long elegant gown, both of these items are made from really sturdy material that won’t easily show signs of wear and tear from play with children. One of the many things I like about her, is her bent arms which helps keep her boa from sliding off her. The one con I did find is her pink shoes are hard to snap back on once you take them off. I love that superstar Barbie is being reintroduced to a younger generation of children and hopefully Mattel continues to bringing back many more for kids and adult collectors.

Love her so much!!

As a 53 year old woman, I owned this version of Barbie back in 1977. Kept her for a few decades, stored away before I got married & sadly given away to the Salavation Army decades ago…BiGGEST mistake ever. When I saw she was being reissued, I jumped on getting this version. Never ever to be discarded away-she’ll stay with me until I die. Thank. you Mattel for the best memories of my childhood.

I feel like a Superstar, when I play with her! I love her! Her shoes are so cute. They match ber dress and boa. I think, for Halloween I will be Superstar reproduction Barbie.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Barbie doll is beautiful! The details on her are wonderful. Her makeup, jewelry, her shoes, her dress… all of it!! I just love it. She is proudly displayed on her stand in my daughter’s bedroom. Her pink dress is my favorite part, it’s so nicely made. Much better quality than typical Barbie play clothes. She also has nice quality hair. She stands perfectly straight with the doll stand and has never tipped or fell over. I think she has to be one of the prettiest Barbie dolls that I have ever seen!! Highly recommend this one!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As far as I can remember I have loved Barbie. I was always so envious of my older sister who had Superstar Barbie and Barbie and the Rocks and so many other “cool looking” Barbie that I was never allowed to play with. Fast forward 33 years later with the help of the internet and Mattel I am now able to own all of the Barbies I have ever wanted. At first glance of this Superstar Barbie I try to pick out flaws (I have and will always love the Superstar & Steffie face) well, Mattel did her Justice! I am fortunate wnough to own the original Superstar as well as the first reproduction done in 2008 and honestly, this girl is closer than the previous reproduction. The dress is a brighter “neon” pink much like the original, the hair is swept a little back in the packaging but left down and attached to the board. A big difference honestly is the size of the face. The original Superstar has a smaller face meaning her features are not so spread out as it is in the reproduction. That’s not a bad thing, it just makes her face look more human as opposed to a doll. Her boa may be the only biggest difference it doesn’t have as much silver in it as the original, but if you haven’t seen or don’t own the original, it still looks amazing. Overall, I think Mattel has knocked this Superstar Barbie reproduction out of the box! I am enjoying seeing all of these older girls come back to life.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received this doll a week after it shipped. The shipping container, and the doll box itself were crushed, but it did not affect the doll at all. She compares very well with the previous reproduction, and a great likeness to the original doll. The skin complexion is more pale compared to the original pink skin tone, but still a beauty! I was able to easily remove her from the box and all of the rivets, etc. I’m glad that the boa is indeed longer than it looks in the box. It was pinned up behind her, apparently to look more streamlined? Her hairline, and her make up look great, and I see no imperfections in the dress. I placed her on the stand, and she certainly commands attention with her beauty! She will definitely appeal to both collectors and young girls who want a Barbie that is wonderful nod to her late 1970’s incarnation. She is a must have, so do not delay in acquiring your own Superstar Barbie!

1977 Barbie A Blast from the Past

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 1977 Barbie brought back fond memories for me and it was a great experience to share a Barbie from when I was little with my daughter. The 1977 Barbie came in her iconic pink dress, pink feathered boa, pink shoes, and the groovy diamond earrings, necklace, and ring that I remember Barbie having when I was a child; but because of these items, I would not recommend this doll for young children under the age of 8 yrs. since these items could easily be swallowed. Speaking of the pink dress, the quality of the dress is very nice and feels like a quality outfit. My daughter loved the shade of pink! Barbie's hair–which is more a golden blonde than the white blonde we see on Barbie more often now–is nice, soft, and pulled back in a pony tail. Like most Barbies from the 70’s, this one has slightly bent arms that, like her legs, have limited mobility, but she has that cute iconic face that I remember as a kid, which just made me fall in love with Barbie all over again. The fact that my daughter instantly loved her demonstrates that the older styles of Barbie are universal. This doll is perfect for simple display, or for my daughter to play with as the quality is very good overall. A recommend for any Barbie lover, young or old.
The only complaint that my daughter and I have would be the stand Barbie 1977 comes with. It's the type of stand that fits between the doll’s legs, leaving Barbie to simply balance on it. This type of stand does not secure a doll well at all. A simple vibration can knock the doll off of the stand. While you could display the doll, you would want to secure her to the stand better or purchase a better doll stand. My daughter and I would much prefer a stand that holds the doll around the waist or some other more secure option.
Overall, Barbie 1977 is a gorgeous doll that not only brought back wonderful memories, but allows me to share Barbie from my era with my daughter.

Gorgeous 1977 Superstar Barbie Signature, Buy it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful Super Star Barbie! My daughter and I are so excited to receive this iconic doll! We took her out of the box but saved the packaging because the illustrations remind me of my childhood Barbie boxes. The doll is a very faithful reproduction of the original! The jewelry, bright pink outfit and shoes are spot on! The materials used to make the doll are also similar to the ones used in the late 70’s! To my surprise the doll has the twist and turn waist that I remember. Her superstar face mold and screening are perfect! The doll’s hair is soft and great for styling. This doll will go to my daughter, it will be her first reproduction Barbie and I’m sure she will treasure it for many years to come! Thank you Mattel for taking me down memory lane with this doll and for making my daughter’s start into Barbie collecting so much fun!
