Great backpacking item

My friend and I went on a five day backpacking trip to Michigan's Isle Royale National Park, (no cell service whatsoever). My new messenger worked flawlessly. The blue tooth connected to my phone with no issues. I thought the app was very intuitive and it worked great. We texted a group easily with the phone in airplane mode to conserve the phone's battery. The group reported that they could locate us on the map when we sent our location. Very good overall experience!

Handy Bikepacking Tool

Had an opportunity to test our Inreach Messenger on a 380 Mile Bikepacking trip which in many cases required camping in remote areas with no cell service. The family appreciated the messages that we were able to share about our location and that we were fine for the night. Easy to use and just what we need for our upcoming 2600 mile journey to South America, culminating in Ushuaia, Tierra de Fuego, Argentina.

awesome peace of mind

The way this thing works with the phone app is great! sending and receiving messages is easy. My wife likes the location sharing feature. it provides great peace of mind. The screen on the device is small and not an ideal way to send messages but it is possible, this this is specifically designed to be used in conjunction with your phone and it does that well.

The best inReach for communication.

If you don't need GPS mapping & navigation capability this is absolutely the best unit for seamless satellite based text communication. Coupled with the in Reach Messenger App it also provides optional weather updates, real-time tracking, and of course the SOS. It's extremely simple, compact, and effective and we'd recommend it to beginner or expert adventurers alike.

Excellent battery life

I just took this on a 4-day backpacking trip in southern Ohio in Shawnee State Park. It performed flawlessly even in the dense forest. I was most impressed by the battery life. I never turned it off day or night for 5 days, and then put it in the trunk of my car without turning it off for another day and a half on my way home. When I unpacked it still had about 25% charge. We also used it for a critical weather report which we needed to determine if it was a good idea to stay out on the trail another day. Overall, I am very happy I decided to get it.

They've thought of everything

Works so incredibly well with the phone app, but with backup functionality on the device itself in case the phone doesn't work. Battery lasts almost a month. Messages send fast. Subscription costs are the same for virtually all of these devices.

So far this has proven to be a great product! I've had it for about a month! I haven't needed it on any emergencies and hope that I don't but it has been very reliable thus far! Very light and great battery life! I've always had my phone with it to use via bluetooth but at times I have toggled the small screen and even with only 3 buttons it is pretty easy to use.
