Awesome unit and a must have for anyone venturing beyond cell phone signal

This unit has been great for communicating in the back country. The ability to drop a location with each message is fantastic. The battery life is beyond compare, and while I haven't used the USB-C charger to charge from the device, it is great to know it's there if I need it. I take this thing everywhere when we go out adventuring, and haven't run into any issues with the unit.

Small and cheap, gets the job done. The longer battery life is important to me while out for long days.

I've had great luck with the messenger. I hunt or recreate solo quite often and am able to stay in contact with family and friends.

I shopped zoleo first, but the monthly cost and per message rate for a year subscription on Garmin was the lowest base cost I could find, and I don't need this...until I do. Its the right price model for me.
As far as the device, I love the battery life and form factor. Its small and rugged. It lives in the top of my pack or on my dashboard. It has a small screen to give me the device info I need at a glance, and the IR app is excellent.
You can either use your phone to compose/receive any sort of 2way messages, or if your phone isn't available you can also send pre-programmed checkins via the device or an SOS by the device. Exactly what wanted. Oh and the device can even charge your phone!
The battery life is huge. Protip, battery goes down much faster if you leave the device on and without a sky view.
I'm really happy with the ability to send a message out when nothing else works.

Pretty Decent Item. Used it a few times to keep in contact in family when hiking in areas with no service. Not much troubles although it would be nice to have a better way to strap to backpack/etc than the small rope hook it has. Maybe something like the inreach mini 2. Product does what its advertised to. didn't rate 5 stars because wasn't super impressed with it. 5 stars are only for super great items.

This is a great product and exactly what I was looking for. It's simple and easy to use and doesn't have the extra navigation features that I don't need. If you are just looking to have some extra piece of mind while out in the wilderness this is a great option.

The messenger replaced my ancient but much-loved inreach se. The messenger is tiny by comparison, connects to sats more quickly (better antenna), and the battery lasts a lot longer. Feature I really like: the ability to charge a phone so it can be used to send a message. Feature I really miss: being able to set quick text messages rather than use garmin's canned texts.
I carry an inreach device into the backcountry almost every weekend since first using one during a long trip into northern Nepal. Being able to send tracking information and, if needed, text messages was a game changer.
