Beautiful African American Holiday Barbie

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This marks the second year that our daughter has wanted a Holiday Barbie (eventually, I think that she will want to keep the dolls in their boxes, similar to her mother. But, for right now, she is more than willing and thrilled to play with them). She was super excited to receive this one, and mentioned that the face mold is similar to another one of her dolls, but she wanted this particular one because she did not have the same braided hair (and she absolutely loves the face freckles)! Overall, the doll is beautiful and the dress resembles petals on a flower. Our daughter was really excited that this year’s dress is red, which is one of her favorite colors. Two issues have been raised, though: (1) there is a noticeable chip on the doll’s left shoulder, and (2) the coiffed hair curls are not as tight as expected (which was very apparent upon removal from the box). However, neither of these noted disappointments seems to take away from the excitement of adding this stunning African American Holiday doll to the collection! I think both accounts are more of quality control issues than anything else. We can definitely appreciate the diversity of the Holiday line of Barbie, as Mattel continues to demonstrate a stellar job in portraying!

Wow - The Details

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The details on this beautiful Barbie makes it hard to let a kid touch it, but they love it so much more for its beauty.
My twin girls instantly loved the beautiful dress and hair. They also really loved that it comes with a stand for her to prop up on when they are not playing with her.
As a mom, I loved her face details and how beautiful the dress looks on the actual Barbie and wish they made this dress in real life - haha!

The only negative I have on the doll is that either the dress is super flattering or they made this doll super long and slender for the dress. A very dml thing, but one to mention.
I would definitely get this doll again though as a holiday gift - in my opinion, it’s so beautiful in person and the photo does not do it justice.

She's a Holiday Hit

Almost perfect, if only you could pose her better.

The pros:
The poinsettia dress is amazing, the stitching for her scale is fantastic and quite beautiful.

The face sculpt and paint application is stunning, one of the very best barbie faces i have seen.
The stand that she comes with is quite useful, and hides away under her flowing dress completely, a masterclass of an accessories.
The box is quite beautifully done with gold trim and a large view window so that you're getting a full unimpeded view of the product.
Cons:
Restrictive posing options with the arms and legs, it limits the playability with playsets and other doll interactions.
Overactive security features, her hair is stunning in the box, but once you attemp to remove her from packaging her hair is sewn to the box and once you finally make cuts and pull her out, it ruins the hair greatly.
She could use more decorative jewellery, i mean she's dressed as the belle of the ball, but no necklaces, no rings.
In summary, the doll is beautiful, but as you have the molds and technology, the made to move bodies would put this doll beyond a 10.

Beautiful Holiday Barbie

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful doll, dress and accessories that truly makes it look like doll is wearing a poinsetta. This doll is a perfect addition for collectors of Barbie holiday line. Includes certificate of authenticity and stand if you plan to display outside of box. Dress is delicate, and hair tangles easily so I wouldn't recommend as a toy to play with for younger fans.

Missed the Mark

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This doll is pretty basic with a simple dress cut like a pointsettia flower and simple shoes and pearl earrings. The stand is weird to use; you have to perch the doll on top woth nothing to clip around the waist. But it dies allow you to flare the dress. But the slightest movement and the doll falls off the stand. The packaging was terrible and left plastic in the head of the doll which is a safety issue if you are giving it to a 4 to 6 year old child. The box was pretty but it felt like more money went into the design of the box than the doll itself. The curls of the hair are coated in hard silicone to keep them fresh and then they fall as the doll turns which is kind of neat. However my daughter found it gross that they were hard. I would have liked to see some embelishment on the dress and question how long the silk flower part of the dress will take to fray as a child plays with it as it isnt finished in any way. The doll just seems underwhelming. We did like that her nails were painted and the doll herself has a very pretty face. But the outfit is so basic I expected more from the Holiday Barbie especially with the designs we have seen in the past. Maybe a necklace or bracelet or even a purse would have added to the doll. She will still get played with as she is pretty it just could have been so much better.
