Works well, but very loud

This hood insert fits our minimalist aesthetic, and it looks great in the surround built for it. The noise, however, is very disruptive to conversation and adds to the chaos when we entertain. I hesitate to use it when we have company.

We’re glad to hear you appreciate the hood’s appearance, and it looks great in your space! We’d like to address the issue you’re having with sound. If airflow sound seems loud or abnormal, the wrong duct size may have been used in installation. We have more information about that, and about what to check if the fan sound seems to be too loud, on page 22 of your manual; that’s linked here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--LiXprKFg--/2f11e72f6b7ec254b80a4524f5b1fbfa4d6105eb.pdf
The fan speed can also be adjusted if you prefer it to run more quietly, and we have information about that on page 5 of the manual. The fan can be set to low, medium, high or boost speeds.
Your feedback regarding the hood’s appearance and sound will be shared with our product team for future consideration.

We are excited that you are loving your new vent hood and its ease of use. This is such a beautiful model with many great features that we are happy to hear you’re enjoying. We are honored to have you as a part of the GE Appliances family, and we hope you enjoy your vent hood for many years to come!
I really appreciate the features of this hood. The lights are bright, and the adjustable fan levels operate quietly while effectively removing smoke. I also really like the chef connect that adjusts the lights a fan with the range.
We bought this to replace a broken 48" hood insert, but we were disappointed to learn, after installation, that this one is not a true 48" hood. Instead, it's the 42" model but with two non-filter panels that can be installed on the two sides to make it fit into a 48" hood space. If we had known that, we wouldn't have bought it. In any case, while it's less powerful than the one we had, it is quieter, and the filters are appealingly easy to remove for cleaning. (The restaurant-level one we had before had filters that were dangerously sharp, and it took a good bit of force to remove them.) I also like that it has buttons rather than knobs. It doesn't have the heat lamps our old one had, but I rarely used the heat lamps, anyway.
