[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had had some small charcoal kettle grills in the past but never got into using them much. I suppose I tinkered around with the idea of getting a traditional gas grill but never settled on one. When pellet grills starting getting popular and I heard friends talking about smoking meats I was intrigued and attracted. However, I didn't like the idea of a more-or-less single-use (smoking) cooker. I wanted to be able to cook over flames/embers too like burgers and steaks. From going to home improvement stores I was sure no one there would be good to discuss options so I went to store that only sells grills and related items. I told the store rep my interest in slow smoking but also direct grilling and that I preferred to do that on one grill, not 2. They suggested Kamado Joe explaining the advantages even though it may take some time to learn to control the heat level. I went for it and haven't regretted it. So far I've smoked pork tenderloin, pork loin, pork ribs, pork shoulder, picanha, and turkey. I always look forward to cooking on my Joe Classic.
