I owned a large Big Green Egg for years. Unfortunately, the movers would not move when I moved out of state. It gave me many years of really good barbecue with enough space to fit 3 Boston Butt roasts. My major complaint was the weight. Even with the top removed, it took two strong people to lift it. I really like the removable fire box with the Classic Joe. With the firebox removed, the Joe is an easy two-person lift. The ash tray makes emptying ash easy. The manual is almost worthless in using the Joe since it basically just covers assembly in multiple languages. It doesn't even tell you how to light it. You need to buy someone's Joe cookbook to cook with it. After that, it produces some really tasty barbecue! I have smoked two Boston Butts and a set of pork ribs that are excellent.

I paid for the Big Joe II in March. I still haven't been able to actually use it because it was incorrectly shipped without the grill cart and shelves. I've received the shelves, but not the grill cart. The grill and all the extras I bought along with the grill still sit in my garage. I hope to one day get to actually use the grill I paid for 2 months ago.

I looked at a few kamado type grills and went with the Kamado Joe, what a great decision! I am different than most people, I use my grill at least 4-5 times a week year-round. I have the grill under a covered area, I cook with pretty much any weather condition with rain, snow and freezing temps. I purchased my Kamado Joe approx. 3 years ago, after the first ribeye cook on the Joe my wife said "I don't want anything cooked on the gas grill again". I cook everything imaginable on the grill from fish and vegetables to 12-14 hour cooks with pork butts. After 3 years of real use, the Kamado Joe looks and cooks like new. Love it!

I brought the Classic II home and set it up. The next day, I brouoght home a 6.5 pound pork Butt and prepped it according to a video on youtube.com. At 2:30 PM the butt went into the Joe. At about 1:30 AM the next morning the butt came out, wow! (Next time I'll start earlier). We have been living off of pulled pork for a few days now; incredible taste and ease of prep.

I finally upgraded to the Big Joe Professional from a PitBoss K22. This thing is AWESOME! I love the size and the fact I got the original Big Red! The Stainless hardware pushes it over the edge.

The cooker has been great. But while I love how the vent protects during the rain the paint is peeling and the vent sticks. Cooks everything well. There are times I wish I had the big joe. Other times, I am glad it’s smaller. Love the ash removal. I do want to get the charcoal basket with divider offered with the kamado joe iii.
