[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice powerful computer. This has all of the features we needed. Everything was set up nicely. I had the computer rolled back to Win 10 to meet our needs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this laptop to replace my P51, which I loved but it was getting long in the tooth. I'm not a gamer, but I do use programs like PhotoShop, Premier, and other high-powered software. The P15 is a great replacement!

Dual boot running Windows11 and Fedora!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hello,
I am writing this review from my new P15vGen3 on Fedora 36 (Wayland). This is the third week of use and I have not had any significant problems. The laptop comes with Windows11 preinstalled (I had to remove a lot of bloatware, please stop doing that, or at least give consumers the option to install additional software, don't impose it) but I have added a dual boot with Fedora 36.
I'm very happy because all the components I use have worked without any problems from the start, I haven't had to do any additional configuration to get them to work:
- WiFi: OK
- RJ45: OK
- Fingerprint reader: OK, although sometimes it doesn't detect the fingerprint well and asks for a password. It is possible that there are adjustments to be made to the configuration, I have not yet explored the improvements in this case. I find it convenient to avoid typing the password every time sudo is invoked, but it's not my favorite authentication method, so it doesn't bother me that it doesn't work so well. What I don't like is the design of the fingerprint reader. It's notched and I suspect that dust will start to accumulate on the bezel over time. It would be better to use another type of reader that is on the same level as the keyboard.
- Display: OK (plays 4K videos with no problems).
- Microphone and camera: OK
- USB ports: OK
- Thunderbolt: OK (although I haven't used any expansion yet, only USB hubs)
- Keyboard: OK (backlit works fine)
- Trackpad/trackpoint: OK (trackpad buttons OK)
- Hibernation: OK
- Card reader: To be tested
- HDMI: To be tested
I will probably update this review later but for the moment I am fully productive on this laptop. However, I have noticed a couple of problems that I wish to comment on. I think they have to do with the Kernel or Gnome. On a few occasions (maybe three) the system has frozen completely (I had not enabled SysRq, so I had to do a hard reset). Apparently it happens when you are in the GNOME settings trying to add custom key shortcuts. I have read on the internet that it may be a support issue with the Intel GPU. I simply created the shortcuts I needed from the command line. I enabled SysRq but it hasn't happened again. Another strange thing that has happened to me a couple of times is that for about 15 seconds the system froze but then came back to life, on one occasion it was in Firefox, on the other when I opened Zoom (installed from the RPM package downloaded from their website), I suspect this also has to do with GPU support, I haven't had time to dig further.
It's Linux, I'm sure there will eventually be kernel updates that will fix it, and since it's not something that happens often, I'm ok with it.
Finally there is something that puzzles me. Sometimes the fans turn on for no apparent reason, bpytop does not show any process consuming a lot of CPU, and the temperature of the cores is about 40 degrees, so I do not know why they turn on, it does not usually last long, and they are not very noisy, but it is noticeable. Maybe the laptop is overheating? I don't know, I always work with it on a wooden stand and I'm not in direct contact with it. It does get very hot and the fans come on when I play Magic which in principle should not require a lot of graphic processing. Maybe a tweak needs to be made to the video card or maybe the cooling system is not that efficient. This is something I will look into when I have some time. At the moment it's nothing terrible.
All in all, I am very happy with this purchase, I hope the equipment will last me at least five years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This custom configured laptop was a great deal. We were able to get a quadro graphics card in a reasonably priced laptop with top of the line display, checked all the boxes. Our company standard has been Lenovo ThinkPads for 7 years because these laptops really seem to stand the test of time in terms of hardware durability.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Solid, powerful laptop. Setup was very straightforward. Was able to connect and load my software and data easily. Like the fingerprint sensor to unlock, works very quickly. Laptops never have enough ports, but does have what I need for most stuff without having to add a usb hub. Like the options of touch pad, red nubby, or external mouse. I float between them depending on what I'm doing. I've set mine up to record and mix audio, plus a huge library of local music and various players. It handles the DAW software flawlessly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great features and specs in a slightly bulky package. I am quite pleased with the specifications and performance of the laptop and it seems to work quite well running Linux, which is my preferred OS.
