Leaves my old Roombas in the Dust!

I bought my Shark AI at the recommendation of my daughter, who had previously owned multiple Roombas (like me), and had switched to Shark. Everything about it is better, the cleaning, the mapping, avoiding places I want to avoid, plus the self-emptying. It is quieter than my Roombas - an added bonus I didn’t expect. If there is a large amount of dirt, it empties itself, and then returns to cleaning. The mopping function is out-of-this world great. I also had a Scooba (mopping Roomba), and it is much better than the mopping version of Roomba. No longer do I need “Avoidance Islands” for areas I don’t want touched. Highly recommend anyone who has had a Roomba to switch to the Shark AI Ultra 2-in- Robot Self-Empty XL. Could not be happier with my decision to switch.

Cleans Well and Mapping Is Spot On

After a few months of cleaning I am loving this AI Ultra 2-in-1 even more! It does an excellent job on our hardwood floors and our very thick bedroom carpet. The mapping and blocking off of certain areas are spot on. It's a great feeling to come home to a completely clean first floor. My only wish for improvement was that I didn't have to lose the self-emptying portion to use the mopping part.

Vaccum is great, the ability to not be able to control the water coming out of the mop feature is a big downfall. Our marble floors shows a lot of spots each and every time.

Good and Bad

I am giving this THREE stars. Some aspects deserve only ONE star, others are FIVE stars.
First the GOOD. This unit does a great job of cleaning. I find the mapping is fairly accurate and, unlike other reviewers, it got it right the first time. The Matrix clean option is fantastic, and this unit really does 'get it all'! The self emptying base works great and does hold more than a month's worth of dirt (although we empty it once month, regardless). I find the noise level to be acceptable, but I wouldn't want this to be running in the middle of the night when trying to sleep. We set this run in the mornings, while we are at work.
The So-So: The mopping feature, while it works OK, is problematic. We find that the unit ignores the "Do Not Mop" areas (i.e. carpet), so we have to guard these areas when running the mop function! Also, as many others reviewers have mentioned, the set up for mopping is not simple and storage of the mopping unit is problematic.
The BAD: This unit does NOT recognize No-Go Boundary Strips and just drives right over them! How did Shark miss this critical attribute that is standard in every other unit (at least that I am aware of)? There is no way to stop the unit from going into areas that we don't want this unit to run (e.g. behind chairs where there are electrical wires on the floor, a powder room with a throw rug that it gets tangled up in, etc.). Our previous Shark robot was easily deterred from these areas with the use of the boundary strips. Had I have known this prior to buying, I would NOT have made this purchase.
Summary: Great Performance, however, several design and functionality misses make this a "Do NOT Recommend" for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When it works, it works great! Getting it to function is sometimes awful, and takes days! It just calls out errors, I do what it says to fix it, and it never stops! This was an investment and I’m overall not happy with it!

Overall Average - Wifi Connectivity is not the Gre

I really wanted to give this 5 stars, but the connectivity issue is driving me insane! And the only way to reconnect it to wifi is to delete the bot and set it back up, resulting in needing to remap my house and setup my carpet and no-go zones again. Extremely inconvenient! If there's another way to reconnect a "disconnected" status bot, let me know, but I haven't found anything helpful other than redoing my entire setup. I've only gotten to use my bot a handful of times since I purchased it on black Friday!
The self empty feature is nice, I haven't had to empty it yet since I haven't gotten to use it too often. And as another reviewer stated, if you use the 2-in-1 mop feature, the vacuum bin is self empty, which is fine for me and just a minor inconvenience. The mop feature seems to work decently for my tile floors, but again I've only gotten to use it a couple times.
Overall, I'm satisfied enough, but I would expect more flexibility for the device and the app/bot settings to address the wifi disconnection issue that seems to be almost a weekly occurrence right now.
