The GP3 - a small speaker with a nice sound field

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The LG GP3 isn't your typical portable Bluetooth speaker. When I generally think of portable, I envision taking a speaker to the backyard while grilling or to the beach. This speaker is advertised as a gaming speaker first, and as such it is designed that way. The form factor is designed to sit under a monitor. If you are using a laptop you can't really place it directly in front of you. Behind the laptop will block the sound to a point, so it would need to be to the side. In the box is the speaker and a cable (split USB to computer with one cable leading to the speaker and another to a charging adapter which is not included. On the rear of the speaker there is a gaming headset input and a USB-C input for charging. There are two small woofers on the rear and two speakers in the front. The speaker is 13" wide, 3" deep, and 3" high. Operationally it's fairly simple. Moving from left to right along the top is the following - power button, input select (USB or Bluetooth), Headset on/off, combination volume adjust ring and voice chat/voice command button, microphone immediately to the right of the volume ring, and the 3 buttons for sound [FPS for first person gaming, RTS for broader surround field, and EQ to customize with the XBOOM app.
Connecting to Bluetooth to my phone was straightforward. The app is minimalist allowing you to select built-in EQ's or customize your own. You can change to color between red/blue for lighting effect, and can adjust voice chat etc.
I first tested the speaker with music. This was the main reason for the lower rating. It had some volume, but I felt it just lacked enough of the low end to not impress that much. Using the EQ kept the volume lower versus the FPS & RPS. The RTS setting was easily the best of the sound field settings. It provided a fairly wide sound, and with the volume up without distortion and doing fine with the highs and mids, I would call it decent. I played Doom on Steam and will admit for the small size of the speaker it did fairly well. In my opinion it doesn't measure up to a headset.
Compared to several other portable Bluetooth speakers I have, for gaming I would say the GP3 does better due to the wider dispersion of sound. I just wish it had a bit more oomph.
I would recommend this speaker for somebody on a budget as I feel that is its niche. I received this product at a discount for my honest review.

A Bit Misunderstood

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The soundbar itself is pretty solid and very well built. It has a nice feel to it, and the design is sleek and looks great on a desk.
You'll download the LG XBOOM app to control more settings of the speaker, as well as perform software updates. You can connect to the speaker via Bluetooth (duh). The app is super well designed and easy to navigate.
Regarding sound quality, I'm a bit torn, because on the one hand it does a good job in some aspects but could use improvements in others. However, I'm not sure if it needs to... let me explain.
The speaker produces good mids and highs, and decent bass. However, it isn't the most powerful sounding speaker, and can feel a bit "light" and "hollow" sounding. The bass could be better, and the soundscape was just OK. But a lot of this has to do with it being a gaming soundbar and not a fully rumble tumble speaker. It isn't meant for music, and you can tell right away. If you're pumping out tunes, the louder it goes, the more distortion kicks in.
But with all that aside, it's a gaming speaker, and it does "gaming"... well, great. It does dialog well, and when you're playing games, such as multiplayer FPS, it works surprisingly well. For example, it picks up on small details you normally wouldn't hear, and can actually greatly assist in your gaming experience. The mic as well, is great. It's a huge center button that also serves as your volume control. It has fantastic voice pickup and clarity, even from far away with background noise.
Bottom line is that it's a fantastic "Gaming soundbar" which is what it portrays itself as. However, it isn't my first choice for music or movies. It performs excellently in cases where the focus isn't bass, or music, or a movie, but rather games.
It's a bit of a niche, and may be misunderstood, but it's a great "gaming soundbar".

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using this Portable Bluetooth Gaming Speaker for about a week and half, I realized I will not listen to music the same anymore. The crystal clear treble and deep bass really pulls you into the music itself. I'm a huge BTS army fan and have been listening to their music on the GP3 Gaming speaker. I love the style and shape of this designs. It sits on top of my TV table and really creates a surround style atmosphere.
Upon receiving the unit, the setup was a breeze. I was using the speaker thru my phone. Connection via blue-tooth was very easy to us. I also downloaded the app to further enhanced it.
Overall, I love the sound quality as well as the design of the LG GP3 Ultra Gaming Speaker. "I received this product for a discount in exchange for my honest review!"

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the LG GP3 gaming speaker and from the beginning it was super easy to set up and start using. I started with downloading the LG XBoom app to be able to pair and customize the sound quality and levels. One thing I love about this speaker is how versatile it is. It comes with a cable to connect to your computer and power source to use while online pc gaming, listening to music and videos but it also is able to be used as a somewhat portable speaker in the living room or outdoors while using your phone as well. The fps and eq are my 2 go-to settings for my gaming and for my music playing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, this is a great buy.
I primarily use this as a computer speaker, which it works great for. The ease of being able to turn on microphone (if you need it) switch to headset (if you want) and volume up/down, etc. This is great for that.
What really puts this beyond is the multiple ways you can make use of it.
Need to use it with your laptop? The built in battery makes it easy to bring it on the go.
Need to use it to listen to some music from your phone? Again, easy to pair via Bluetooth and listen in.
Have an outdoor projector and need to beef up the sound? This comes in handy for that as well.
The ability to pair this via Bluetooth with a number of devices and the built in battery makes it really have multiple uses.
I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure what to expect, but the LG P7 Xboom Go is really a great portable speaker. It's lightweight with a nice symmetrical design. The integrated handle serves double duty as a stabilizer bar so that when you put it down, it stays there.
Connecting over Bluetooth was easy. The sound quality is great with next to no distortion despite how loud the volume was. While controlling the device is easy with the built in buttons, it becomes even easier once you download the Xboom app for you phone. The app includes music controls, playlist saving and controls for the speakers built in lights.
Battery life is absolutely amazing and I haven't had any worries about getting through a BBQ or a day at the park.
The water resistant cover for the charging (and other) ports is really solidly connected. It was so well connected that I thought I was going to break something when I was taking it off, for the first time to charge the speaker.
I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

A nice small speaker when space is needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I listened to the gaming speaker that my husband got. I went in with no expectations, as I myself am not a big gamer. With that said, sat down with this speaker and gave it a whirl. It was connected to my husbands desktop for my initial test.
As with most Bluetooth speakers, this is very simple to get up and get running. I played some Doom (which I stink at). The sound was very clear with no distortion. I found myself absolutely enjoying and keeping the EQ setting in surround mode. I was really surprised as how full and surrounding it was. The only thing I wasn't overly impressed with was the bass, but with this size I wasn't expecting a miracle.
I then streamed some music from my phone, and I was a bit more impressed with the overall sound. The bass wasn't deep, but it was definitely noticeable.
I would definitely recommend this speaker mainly for what you get for the price. There are more expensive audio setups, but if you want something portable that takes up minimal space, the GP3 does just fine.
